Looks good.

Just remember folks, you need a 64 bit OS (XP or Vista) to take advantage of 4GB of memory. 32-bit systems just can't see it all.

It will see some of it in 32bit.

Original Poster

XP will see 3.25GB

Not with service pack 1 vista, it will see all 4 gigs:)

My 32bit Vista sees 4gb no probs

hot ;-)

are they for desktops or laptops?

Service pack 1 changed Vista so that it will report 4gb of RAM, even though some of that memory is not addressable. It didn't change the size of the addressable RAM amount, so it doesn't make any more use of that memory than before.

XP will see 3.25GB

actually it depends on the memory on your graphics cards...

if your running a 4870X2 (2GB memory) then you will see about 1.75GB
if your running a 280GTX (1GB memory) then you will see about 2.75GB
cards with 256MB in them, then you will see about 3.5GB

EDIT: unless your running the 64bit edition, then it will use it all

I have 4GB installed with XP Pro and it can use 3.5GB but at this price who cares just buy it if you need more than 2GB.

Note: My VGA card is 512MB.

not in stock everywhere but is in stock in Leeds atm

VERY HOT!

Half the price of anywhere else.

Review here. Faultless really.

OCZ memory sucks, though a good price.

Bargain ordered 16gb:thumbsup:

Why does it suck?

And what company would you recommend instead?

Thought these were a good price last week at £39.99, get good reviews. I currently have an E520 (Dell) and to my knowledge they only supply 1.8v to ram, these require 2.1v.

Can you not alter the voltage to your ram on a dell's bios?.

I recently bought the 2 x 1GB sticks from the Hut for about £17, but I'd prefer 2 x 2GB instead of 4 x 1GB. So have gone for this and will sell my other sticks.

Voted hot and rep given.

Oh, and in stock in sunny Dundee.

Very good price, will try to pick some up this afternoon

Sorry after checking I think these may boot at 1.8v (usally do it the other way around, ie. check first and post after, but didn't sleep a wink last night).

at 1.5v these boot at cas5 but at a higher fsb, not sure whether they will work in e520, but have read people say they will.

Danmc - no unfortunately most Dells don't allow you to do much in the bios.

I've had loads of trouble with OCZ reaper RAM in the past, just refused to run in dual channel mode.

Check to see if this RAM is compatible with your motherboard first.

Personally I would go with Kingston or Crucial, never had a problem with them.;-)

Hi guys before I reserve will the memory work on my Motherboard.

asrock.com/mb/…66G

Thanks.

well Chesterfield store doesnt have any now

Staff member was quite shocked

I read elsewhere online that some motherboards would have diffculties when it comes to fitting 4 sticks together due to the cooling fins. Let us know how you get on

Reserved - Comes to £30.29 with Staff Discount.

Already have 3 GB of Crucial Ballistix DDR800 (and a broken one I need to send back). Tempted to go for 6GB of RAM

These will run at 1.8v thats what my board was running at when I first installed them. Now have them running at 2.16 and I think they have a guarantee to run at 2.2v.

Something to keep in mind is that the heat sinks are very big as you can see from the picture so if you have a small case you might have some trouble getting these in. Also worth noting is that I don't think you will get 4 sticks of this installed without taking the heatsinks off at least 2 of them. I could be wrong but I put 2 in my PC and the heatsinks hang over the empty slots.

Not quite sure how BlackAle can say OCZ ram sucks, have a look at a review of this memory

A few months ago a group of me and my friends all built new computers at the same time, two of us got OCZ ram (I went with corsair) one guy ended up having to rma 3 sets of matched memory with OCZ until he got one set that didn't have a faulty stick, which involved posting to the Netherlands. At first we blamed his machine so we tested the ram in other machines and the exact same fault was present.

He's very happy now with the ram but it caused lots of grief at the time, personally I wasn't impressed with how OCZ handled the rma for him and that he had to go through so much memory.

Hot deal anyhow

What is the part number on the ones youve got?

well i forced 8gb in and it didnt work, i could tell one side wasnt making contact in the memory slot pins

that wasnt going to stop me, so removed the ramsinks of a pair and now 8gb fit in fine and work great

probably voided the warranty... but they wont know lol

do the ram sinks come off easy?? any pics? did you get the 5 4 4 like me or the others?

yeah 3 screws, and then you pry them open, not too hard as they have some strong sticky stuff on the ramsinks

yeah they are 5,4,4,15 but yep same part numbers as my 4,4,3,15 sticks

besides its going to be tough getting them timings on a decent non nvidia 680i board

my 4,4,3,15 sticks couldnt do these timings on my p5q board

im running 8gb @ 950Mhz 5,5,5,15 2.0v

they probably can do slightly tighter timings at higher volts but whats the point, its only a media centre rig lol
