This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

I did this a couple of years ago and this is excellent value, even if it is a little niche! The offer is valid on Summer Saturdays only. The offer starts on the 23rd May and is likely to run each Saturday until the end of August. You can only book the 23rd May at the moment as cheap fares do not come out until 12 weeks in advance. Therefore if you are looking for another date check 12 weeks before your departure date as the tickets should then be available. The service departs Bristol Parkway at 10:05, and returns departing Pembroke Dock at 15:00. Ideal if you are getting a connecting ferry to Ireland, or visiting the area on holiday.

Personally, I'd rather pay and not be a d*ck.
The new trains have awful seats even in 1st class. You'll get a sore back after 1hr. You may want to bring your own pillow!

The old HSTs had nice comfy leather seats. Unfortunately, I think it will be the new trains running this service.

Good find though.

It's Pembroke Dock, why would you want to go there!? Also it's not first class all the way, only to Swansea I'm guessing. Use an app like TrainPal if you are travelling from further afield and it should do split tickets and pick this offer up.
GWR = first class. That’s in the topic title.

On the screenshot above it says 0 changes so I’m guessing it is first class all the way.

Seems great value. We go to Tenby every year and this would be cracking if we didn’t take so much stuff!

Ferries, holiday, family, work etc... It is 1st class all the way to Pembroke, GWR run a direct service from London to Pembroke once a week on a Saturday on Summer Saturdays only (i.e May to August) using their IETs
I stand corrected (and voted hot). Used to live down that way so should have known better!
Anyone know if there are barriers at Tenby station?

Anyone know if there are barriers at Tenby station?

Nope, ticket machines on the platform but no barriers
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I have tried the gwr website. Can I book this and get on at Cardif? Thx
"The service departs Bristol Parkway at 10:05, and returns departing Pembroke Dock at 15:00.".

So it's £25 to go from Bristol to pembroke time for a couple of fags and have a cup of tea then back to Bristol?

I imagine the plan is to go the other way!

Good find. Thanks OP
Parking at Bristol Parkway on a weekend costs £5.20/day. #ForInfo

Often bonus nectar points when you book with GWR like 10x or 500 point bonus so check your nectar account too and make a note.

That about sums it up. Just have to hope your train is not running late arriving into Pembroke Docks.

No first class service on this route after Swansea. Its the crap TfW (Transport for Wales) service connecting to Swansea / beyond (GWR service).

Are you sure. There are no changes it's the same train you leave Bristol on.
Half the time I've been on GWR first class there hasn't been a trolley

There's no 1st class on the local services but this train comes direct from London Paddington to Pembroke Dock and it does have 1st class, its one of the new HST's.

The official answer would be "No, you can't do that on this type of ticket" but in reality, provided your ticket lets you through the barrier at Cardiff, no-one will know you didn't get on at Bristol.

Yes yes and yes. The old stock was much better. New stock is hardly any difference save the seat reclines. Not worth the extra these days.
thanks

Better if you don't. Do it on the wrong train and you could end up in court.

Yes this sounds like fun, but it is in fact still theft and prosecuted as such

GWR doesn't go past Swansea, you would have to change to a TFW train at Swansea
I think it's been established that GWR do run past Swansea, just not very often. They always used to have 1 train a day I think to Pembroke Dock and 1 to Fishguard (to tie in with Ferry sailings). I missed this point in the screenshot given by the OP.

Because the previous stop is Pembroke then Tenby, Saundersfoot etc beautiful Welsh country.
I live in Tenby and on Saturdays in the summer i see the London high speed train arrive in the morning suggesting to me that there are no changes to the local small trains so yes first class all the way
Do you have to return on the same date to get that price ?
shanraja13/03/2020 11:03

No but the train only runs on summer Saturdays so if you didn't come back the same day you'd have to wait until the following Saturday to get this price, or pay the normal fare, which is a lot more.
Also, its £12.50 each way, its not a return ticket, in case you didn't realise.
