840 x 2160 resolution

You might want to correct that, you're missing a 3 X)

On a side note, it's good to see 4k TVs dropping in price. Much faster than I envisaged.

I guess 3840
I'm guessing that resolution is a typo on the aldi website
Looks like it is manufactured by a company called Bauhn

But whats the quality like! a 40inch 4k tv for £300 just shouts garbage to me! even a 4k pc monitor costs more
Quick, everyone point out the resolution

Heat added. May grab one for the lads room.

True, but on the other hand, tech moves on, consumers buy in and prices for 'good stuff' starts to fall. What was once expensive good stuff becomes cheap okay stuff.
Wonder if the hdmi ports are Hdmi 2.0
Wow looks just like an X series Sony!

Fully agree with you, when i see a samsung or a sony or a panasonic or another big brand doing 40inch 4k tvs for £300 new and then ill know thats when the real price has dropped,

some chinese knock off from aldi doesnt shout out that 4k tvs have dropped in price.

Why doesn't Chardonnay get one?
Oh boy, I dread to think just how crap these things will be. The refresh rate for 4K needs to be significantly higher than 60Hz to be remotely watchable.
excellent price

Cause Gooseliverpatty has bought them all up.......
Jesus.. Who the hell is voting hot. Worst tv spec ever.
It would be wiser to spend your £299 on a decent full hd tv!
this will only be useful if the HDMI ports are 2.0 and has the HVEC codec rendering. As it has no smart TV features (that I can see) it will require an UHD set top box to get any of the 4K stuff out of it.

Personally, I think you would be better off buying a decent 1080P screen at that price which would no doubt have better picture quality anyway.

This is HUKD

The "voting" is a bit X Factor style - without the Muzak!
You're all missing the point, it doesn't matter if the picture is rubbish, it's worth £299 for the pub brag rights - 'I've got a 4k TV'....
Not a single review, how does it handle SD images, this could be a stunner it is more likely to be awful but hot votes just because the manufacturer labels it 4K which is a bit wasted on 40" but hey ho...
I wonder if it's any good as a monitor.

She's happy with the Blaupunkt from Black Fridaay
It'll prob be 60hz at 1080p and 30hz on 4k like all cheap 4k tvs. Ok for tv, bad for pc use.

How does it? Does the refresh rate change depending on the resolution of the TV, if it does then its news to me! Simple fact is a 60hz screen that's 720p refreshes exactly the same as one displaying a 4k resolution.

The set doesn't need any codecs if it isn't smart or play avi files! The set top box does all the work and simply sends the signal via HDMI to the TV.

Because cheap :p. also not every game needs to be played on ultra! I wouldn't use it for gaming though...

It's a bandwidth issue with older versions of hdmi. A lot of cheap 4k screens have the same issue - people buy em to use as giant monitors for coding etc, then discover it can only do 30hz at full res.

That is correct but as its not known what HDMI ports the TV has no one can say for sure.

besides UHD standards are finalised now so unless these are old stock sets then they should be at least 2.0.

So pile it high, sell it cheap is a good indication to the quality of the products?

Personally I've found a lot of Aldi's stuff is excellent quality, its meat and chicken far superior to Asda, Morrison's and Tesco and oddly Aldi offer a 3 year warranty with their electricals and tools and the bits n bobs I've bought have been pretty bang on.

There's a reason why they are the fastest growing supermarket in the UK, we're just slow at catching on unlike Germany!
