“Avoid this junk”

Aka avoid the best consumer level TV of 2017 at the best price it has been at.

Yeah I’ll just go buy a Polaroid from ASDA and stick the other grand on the horses

New Display type, no more burn in issues.2. Very fast response time, no longer an issue for gaming.3. Far more superior contrast that makes viewing 4K movies a great experience.4. High and dynamic refresh rate, great for movies and gaming. These were the only few things I could think of on top of my head!

Wow, you're going all-in on your bizarre, crazy BS!

1) No, they don't. That's just a flat-out lie. OLED will always have "burn-in" (which is actually "burn-out") issues with static content. It's inherent to the technology. The slightly changed pixel structure in the new panels will do nothing to prevent that. At best it might have slightly improved near-black uniformity, but even that's questionable based on the tiny number of samples seen to date.
2) Another nonsensical claim. OLED already had near-perfect pixel response times. Lower than TN panels at under 1ms. Another thing inherent to the technology. If you actually mean input lag rather than response times, LG OLEDs already have the second-lowest input lag on the market after Samsung TVs and are great for gaming. Nothing will improve much, if any on this front. And when it comes to non-OLEDs, nothing has changed there either. Input lag is identical on the models tested so far.
3) Jesus. You quite literally cannot improve OLED's contrast. It was already infinite. Literally perfect. The pixels flat out turn off when displaying blacks. It isn't not possible to improve on literally turned off. As for other types of panels, contrast isn't going to improve there either. IPS and VA are ancient technologies at this point and everything that can be squeezed out of them was done so years ago. IPS will never have contrast better than ~1000:1. VA will never have better contrast than ~6000:1. Current TVs already reach those levels. There's nothing to improve upon.
4) There are no changes to refresh rate in this year's TVs. 4K/60Hz and 1080p/120Hz is all they can do, because HDMI 2.1 won't be arriving until next year. More lies.

Are you done trying to mislead people now? I'll be happy to debunk any more of your nonsense if necessary.

Good price for a fantastic Oled!

Also, Peter Tyson are great to deal with. I’ve had plenty of experience with them and can recommend.

Excellent price really want the c7 at this price
Great price.

I bought this tv for 1399 on black Friday and haven't seen it cheaper since. One of the best purchases I've made.

If you're on the fence just go for it

Yes, I have a ps4 and play quite a lot. I assume you're concerned about burn in?

Just don't game for 10 hours straight with a static hud, watch mixed content and don't turn off at the wall, when in standby it runs a pixel refresh.

Yeah, burn in is a worry but I only game for a couple of hours at a time max.

I've also read an update ruined gaming performance and made the game mode picture really dark when compared to the other pre sets.
Do you have any experience of this?

I suppose if I ordered over the phone I could always send it back if I didnt like it

I keep saying it, but burn in and retention is possible on EVERY screen type, even CRT

Burn in or image retention whilst 'possible' is pretty rare on these displays unless you disable the pixel shift, i've had static images on screen for days and nothing.

I know richer sounds change you a fee as it will be used. I really want to just for it but still not 100%
I have a C6 and it's already showing signs of retention (they disappear but it never used to do it), I think one day they will stop disappearing, seems to be on XBOX it's worse, also some uniformity issues with screen banding shows up on Grey's with the XBOX too. If I could go back in time. I'd have got a none oled like the Samsung 9 series and had better longevity.

Agreed. I bought the C7 model in January and the picture quality is fantastic. Anyone that is worried about burn in etc. From my experience so far it has been a non issue.

That doesn’t seem to be the opinion of most others. The new LG range will, most likely, still be the best TV on the market (as this LG is currently at this price point). But the 2018 model has a software upgrade which produces better colours apparently, that’s about it so it won’t be much better than this.

Burn in is what is worrying me slightly too, but as others have said, if you are sensible with your viewing then it should be fine.

You'll be fine. I play fifa for 3/4 hours at a time sometimes and have seen no ill affects.

This tv was constantly voted 9or10/10 last year. The new 4k tvs are barely an upgrade on this and will be twice the price on launch

Junk? The LG 8 series have the exact same panel with a processing upgrade and they'll be at least £1k more than this at launch. Or buy this and have basically the same TV for way less money. It's a no brainer
It's my understanding that the C8's and other lines are being shipped to warehouses as I type. So I am expecting more drops to come.
I'd imagine they will be released in the next 3 weeks officially, reviews are being added daily to yt, even unboxing videos.

You're right but they will run out of stock. I held off buying the b6 (which I'm now pleased about) and they ran out of stock. I don't think I saw the b6 drop below black Friday prices. If I was looking at this tv now I'd jump on this price.

And while you wait, the last 7 series stock will sell through at the price its been selling at. Much like the Sony XE9 range, which I consider the best LCD at this price.

If you want a 7 series, buy one, keep it boxed for a month and see if a better deal turns up (it won't). The 8 series is of no consequence to 7 series prices as if you've seen what they selling for, they're not playing in the same park - there won't be an 8 series deal on HUKD before Q4 this year IMO.

Last chance saloon me thinks.

Absolute nonsense. All of the 2018 TVs (OLED or not) are essentially the same as last year's models, but with small improvements to picture processing. The 2018 OLEDs in particular will offer almost nothing over the 2017 ones, since there have been no brightness improvements this time (whereas the 2017 models were ~100 nits brighter than the 2016 ones). LG have a fancy new image processor, but the improvements aren't going to be "pay £1500 more" or "wait another year" good. The B8 won't even have said processor and will be essentially identical to this model. Only the C8 and above will feature it, and those start at £3000 for a 55" C8.
Bought a C7V 2 weeks ago so glad I did it's a fantastic tv. This is a great deal. Go out and buy one now before the stocks run dry.

Thanks only 1 years guarantee tho. Curry's only have it online and won't price match. Richer sounds Wont price only Peter Tyson price but only the b7 model. He says the c7 is very hard to get hold of now
You should be able to get the C7 (if they have stock) using the TV80 code - so only £40 more expensive...surely they would let you do that - they’re closed now so can’t check.
Edited by: "axum" 30th Mar
BTW, John Lewis in their typical "never knowingly undersold" policy won't price match Peter Tyson, because it's barely worth the paper it's written on.

I didn't mention the TV code80 earlier but they did say it would cost me £50 to get stock from another store so I said I'll call back tomorrow. Mite go into the shop and see what they can do. The guy at richer. Offered £1450 with names day delivery for b7 and 6 year's guarantee..

The voice of reason
If you're in the market for a class leading 4K TV, buy this now. It's as simple as that. It's highly unlikely to go down in price - bar the odd store specific deals) before the stock runs out.

As Hoff mentioned, the 8 series won't hit these prices until later on this year (my guess will be Black Friday)

Yeah and they will most likely be starting starting at 2 and half grand plus for latest models
Its the best price at the minute so heat added. This will come down to £1200/1300 Just before the new 8series releases which will be around summer and will also coincide woth World Cup TV deals. But at this minute this is the best price i've seen

Anyone remember if you historically get deals comparable to a black friday just before world cups ( would have thought not ) . Ta
No tv is worth that
Really tempted. Have been holding out for somewhere to sell the Philips 9002 for this kind of price. Doesn't seem like there is enough competition though.

I wouldn’t worry. I use an Xbox one on mine all the time and had no issues. had it about 6 months or so now. I was also worried about input lag but have been really impressed with it. At this price its a no-brainer. I went for it at £1500 and its been worth every penny.

Edit: I used some online calibration settings FYI - colours look very natural. Sport mode preset is a bit too vibrant but easily adjusted.
