Stopped off after work to buy some smoke alarms and found a printed sheet with all the smoke alarms saying if I join their club I can get buy 1 get 1 free on all smoke, carbon monoxide alarms today only.

cheapest twin pack of smoke detectors was£8.98 for first alert so works out at £2.25 each
I went for the slightly more expensive fireangel twin pack £11.98 so £3 each alarm

They had sold out of most Carbon Monoxide detectors as would have got some of them,

So last year its all carbon monoxide alarms now - get with the times. The whole of the UK when I grew up had solid fuel yet I never heard of anyone dying from fire or fumes. But I got 2 smoke alarms and 2 co2 lol. what alarm will be out next year?

Good deal for the Carbon Monoxide detection, but as has already been said your local fire station will fit smoke alarms for free. Oh and if you are in Strathclyde they will also fit a heat alarm in your kitchen.

Don't you have to be on some kind of benefits to have these fitted for free? I presumed you did so never applied for them.....

No, anyone can get them for free. They fitted some for us and we aren't on benefits.

nope, its just another way to get your money by not advertising it that much! Don't buy smoke alarms!!! Ask the firemen, I'm not on benefits and they came and fitted two for me- upstairs and downstairs. Save your money! Give your local station a call.

This Beko Grill poisoning story shocked me the other day.

One - so many deaths over some years
Two - I had not heard of it before (and I am not a hermit)

While we have long had a detector near back boiler in Dining Room, not in kitchen (yet).

Ideal opportunity to pop up B&Q

Cheers guys and gals, i'll give em a call.

Contact your local fire station and they will give them to you and fix them for FREE! (plus you get lovely firemen popping over :-)

as long as they work this is a bargain ! but I rather get a decent ones for a bit more money

Looks like the ones the fire service fit for free - but great price - that way fire service can use their funds in other ways

hi guys, if you go to a fire department they will give the fire alarms for free i got mines for free , how hot is that???????????

50 deaths and over 200 people seriously ill from carbon monoxide poisoning in the UK each year. Seems like you are very poorly informed!

The Fire Service fit free alarms in anyone's house, benefits to oligarch.

Don't be so sure that your fire brigade will give them away for free now! Government funding has stopped for this initiative some time back and for some time now the brigade i'm in has been instructed to only fit them to houses of the elderly and infirm and for everyone else to just give the advice and tell them where to buy them.

The advice is very helpful, but you get some greedy people who are only interested in the alarms and don't give a stuff about the advice, which can be equally as important. Loads of houses I go to have issues they are unaware of other than not having smoke alarms.

Great price for these though, heat added.

Not in Cambridgeshire, I'm a firefighter here and we no longer give them out willy nilly to everyone anymore. You have to meet certain criteria. But for most people we would simply tell them to buy some smoke alarms themselves now, so this deal is very good for cambridgeshire residents, hot from me :-)

Good price...thanks
