I have been top dressing my lawn every year for the past 8 years or so.

It's been raised about 3 inches

I use the old grow bags from the previous year, after cutting I make sure that the grass shows through what I put down so its only about 3 Millimetres deep then I rake it around every day and water it in until all the grass shows through properly

Price reduction is good but these bags are very small at only 25 litres. Overall £10 for 125 litres doesn't seem that cheap when you compare it against buying larger bags.
Probably worth it if you want the convenience of handling smaller lighter bags but otherwise you will get better value going for larger 50 or 70 litre bags from the likes of B&M or Morrisons,

Ordered thanks
Haha this is what I was waiting for 😁 last year there was 3 for £10 thanks a lot OP👏
Excellent for top dressing the lawns
Very good quality topsoil
I'm surprised people found it good. Maybe it's just me but I found their top soil horribly sandy, when you pour water on it it's like oil and the water doesn't absorb in. Is that just the way their soil mixture is?
Is this any good for raised beds?

Great price, thanks OP.
Growsure at B&M is good 150 litres for £10 or maybe even £9 instore

They also had a very good 20 litre bag of screened topsoil but the price evades me (maybe £2) ?
How cap soil be horribly Sandy? The best soil is sandy!

I guess then it would be good for clay based soil then

I was using Westland and it was a totally different composition to Wickes', maybe it's just that they are aimed at different land types. I use it mainly for planting more than lawn work.

No, sand helps drainage but soil needs to be loamy.
Has any of you actually contacted local council and asked for soil? I have heard some places you can get it even for free just pick up as much as you like is that true or not i am not sure but there must be a price for large containers? This bag thing is just for pots..
Great find @NeoTrix

I think that's compost i.e. the stuff people put in their green bins. Probably not the best as it will contain any other bits they chucked in there like rubble, bits of old fence and plant pots etc.

I guess your right but surely it isn't that bad is it? Maybe a few rocks.... Come to think of it it's probably a waste land full of chemically modified food and pretty much a poison for your garden vegetables.
My local council does a free compost give-away once a year for National Compost Week. This is early May. I think other councils also probably do the same. Nothing advertised yet but I am pretty sure it will be on.
If you need a good amount for raised beds etc and can wait until May then its worth keeping an eye out. The quality of the compost is also fine and good for growing flowers and vegetables!

Nope it’s compost. Biodegraded food products etc.
They have special bins for the plant pots, fences & rubble at ours & the compost we got was lovely

Risky if you rely on what you grow. A better idea would be to make friends with a local arborist, farmer or stable owner.

This is topsoil. Topsoil is always sold in small bags of up to 35l. Above that the bags are too heavy and split open. You are describing compost. Top soil is for permanent flower beds, where the existing soil is not sufficient. Composts are for pots or in some cases soil improvement. Much confusion in this thread - do not put neat topsoil in pots it lacks the structure required.
Yes, the verge b&q in 125 litre bags is the Best deal for compost. But this deal is for top soil which is very different. Easy mistake. Not all dirt is the same.
i was planning on buying some tomorrow from aldi Gardenline Top Soil 25L £1.99
