be great if it works, but somehow i cant see it, you have to send till reciepts off and wait 28 days, loads of people will do this and each with loads of cards, i think they will end up goig bankrupt if they honour them all - i think someone hasnt thought this thing through!

If I read it correctly, you don't send til receipts off, just the product barcodes.

Also, 3M is a big company, I can't see how losing £2 per deal is going to send them into bankruptcy.

Kevin.

Wow, this seems really good. Read the t&C's and it looks promising. I've just ordered 8 sets of 2 tapes to collect at store tomorrow.
Voted Hot!

Great deal, also can make use of the tape for birthday/christmas presents for the next 10 years...

Thought I'd be a tester for this one. They're selling printer just now for £40, so I figured that I don't want to pay £40. I'd rather pay £20! So I have ordered 8 lots of 2 x scotchtape, which should net me £40 of Maestro cards, which can be used all together. Total cost? £20.32p.

Also, I do loads of ebaying, so much of the scotchtape (all 48 rolls!) will come in very useful. I can ebay the rest to get even more off my future purchase.

Bwahhaha!

WOW! :w00t: This has got to be the best deal i have seen yet. Heat and rep added!

No way - there is no mention of these t&c's on the Pc World site and no direction to them.
It is clearly stated on the Pc World site "What's more, you can collect and use multiple cards in one transaction." - If you're going for this I would take a screen print sharpish.

I don't actually see anything negative in the t&cs - what are you referring to?

Multiple applications are ok and the only possible downside is no changes - so spend over £5 and you are laughing.

Whoops - you're right.
I was taking this "All costs in excess of £5 (€7 in ROI) are not covered by the Gift Card and will be payable by the bearer. The Gift Card can only be used against one single transaction and no change will be given for transactions less than £5 (€7 in ROI)."
As meaning you can only use 1 card per transaction - but it doesn't say that
Deal On.

This seems silly. Hmm, could get me new TV for £500 - 10% ED discount = £450, then 90x£5 vouchers using this offer so, 180x£1.27 = £228.60

So who's going to replicate the barcodes look and feel?

Normally these scotch tapes are about £4 or £5 so you would have to spend about £8 or £9 to get the £5 card. However PC World have them reduced.

As you only need the barcode from the item I'm presuming that if the barcodes are the same you could buy them from a cheaper supplier (if you can find one - already looked on Staples and Viking Direct). You don't need any proof you bought them from PC World from what I can see......

thats what i thought too - but it actually states you can

Can I use my £5 (7 Euro) towards a larger purchase?Of course! You are … Can I use my £5 (7 Euro) towards a larger purchase?Of course! You are able to use as many Cards as you want as part payment against one larger value transaction. Just ask the retailer to charge £5 (7 Euro) only to each Card, and specify how you intend to pay any outstanding funds.

Am I missing something, or is the £4.95 on top for delivery ?

Thanks

It's reserve and collect instore

Is PC world the cheapest place to buy tape & postits etc. Or could I put a huge order from say Viking if cheaper then use the PC world claim form.

Do you think the PC tape has special barcodes on them ?

Just back from PC World - the barcode on the pack (of 3 rolls & dispenser) isn't the one listed as valid. TBH - it's quite a bargain at £1.27 anyway.

I popped into a nearby staples and I think they had the same barcode. They were £5.99 there mind

The dispensers and tape are just wrapped in shrinkwrap.......I thought PC World were trying a fast one (same in staples though)

Is there a product number on the tape anywhere?

kingchris

Is there a product number on the tape anywhere?

Nope, barcode only on the skrinkwrap.
Just collected mine and the barcode number is different to the one on the form (exactly as someone's stated above)

Still, got enough Pukka Pads and scotch tape to last me a lifetime

To anyone else reading this: DON'T BUY THE SCOTCH TAPE FROM PC WORLD! THE BARCODE'S AREN'T VALID FOR THIS OFFER!

If you're not bothered about the gift card, then feel free to buy because the tape is still good value!

Has 18 packs of tape resevred, wonders if will work on the claim form or not. :whistling:

Guys

Unless I'm reading this wrong you don't have to buy these from PC World, apart from the Canary yellow post-its which are exclusive.

Can we not find these cheap/cheaper elsewhere? And probably with the correct barcodes too?

Ebay is going to be flooded with post-its and scotch tape with no barcodes on for months......

Hi all

Are we all sure that we can collect more than one card in one transaction. For example if I bought 4 x packs of post it notes (when you need 2 for the £5 card) would I get 2 x £5 vouchers if I pick them up at the same time.

I can confirm all this I have already had 40 (yes 40 - £200) cards arrive this week all with £5 on each.

I have to say they are hard to use as most places have not seen these "top up" maestro cards before but once they give it a go its fine.

If you spend less than £5 the rest of the money is lost. If you use over £5 they key in £5 swipe the card than take another method of payment for the remainder.

I think you would be hard pushed to use more than one per ago though!

I got all my cards through post-it notes.

They do these offers all the time the last was Capital Bonds on the Devil Wears Parada offer and before that it was Leisure vouchers.

These really are good offers, I do them all the time and normally in high volume and they are fine with it, always send recorded delivery though.

Its also true they dont need to come from PC world they can come from any shop.

Surely they will have to accept the barcode, its a direct link form the offer.

Surprise surprise, PC World have run out of most of the stuff :-(

The barcodes may be the same. Could it be that you have to send 6 barcodes in and you have 3 barcodes per pack on each roll of tape?

i haven't picked mine up yet but if anyone could check that would be great

Thanks

No. You get 2 packaged tapes and one already on the roll. the tapes are not barcoded. As mentioned this product is directly linked. I will be giving them a call tomorrow to clarify if this will be accepted or not.

sorry double posted

Thanks thepearce

I will be calling tomorrow too. I have taken all relevant screen shots.

Have just been looking at both the PC World claim form and the official 3M claim form.

Both list the tape as qualifying and both give the same barcode, i.e. the barcode for a single roll of which you need 6 to qualify for the offer, according to the 3M form. Which is what you are buying from PC world only not individually.

My guess is that whoever put the PC World claim form together wasn't aware/didn't look if it was a different barcode, and will either be aware of the mistake by now or will be by close of business tomorrow after everyone has rang in?

One thing I did think of was, if PC World remain adament that they have the correct barcode on their claimform, it's still got to be worth buying 2 rolls of tape (their qualifying offer and not 6) to send off the barcodes, just a thought.
I seem to think this tape can be bought for about £1.50 a roll if you shop around.

I spoke to the Manager of the store were i went to and shoed him the claim form said how come the barcodes are not the same even though on the PCW the website there is a direct link to the offer.

He said he is 99% sure they will honour the offer but to enclose a note explaining the situation: ie. that i saw the offer advertised on-line however although i puchased the qualifying items the barcodes do not match up to those specified on the claim form. (see my note below based on what the manager told me to write although you'll need to obviously get your store to agree to be contacted so ask to speak to the manager and explian the issue).

In addition he said i could get a refund if they didn't honour this promotion (again see note below).

Dear Sir/Madam,
Following a link on the PC World website i saw that if i purchased 2 of the following item

Scotch Magic TapeX3 +FREE DISPENSER (Ref.No. 217052-SM3)

then i would be eligible to get a free £5 maestro voucher. However it has since come to my attention the barcodes on these items from PC world do not match up with the barcode specified on the claim form for a reason unknown to me. However after speaking to the the store manager for the store i puchased these items from i have been advised that is likely you will honour this and you can contact him on 0207 ??? ???? at the ********* Store asking for XXXXX and he will verify the barcodes i am sending in do correspond to the eligible items, even though it is under a different barcode.

If for some reason you cannot honour these barcodes, can you please return the barcodes to me so i can obtain a full refund from the store as i puchased this items on the understanding i would receive £5 voucher for every 2 items i bought and therefore if this is not the case i will want to return these items to the store for a refund.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely,
XXXXX XXXXX

My personal opinion is i am sure they will honour this. If they don't i probably wont return it (even though he said i could) as in all honesty £1.27 for 3 rolls and a dispnser is a bargain!!!

Good luck - will send my claim form off tomorrow and update on what happens although i think it can take up to 28 dyas to get voucher and lets face it they are going to be pretty busy for a while to come! LOL!

Your quite correct

and if you look at the PCW claim form you'll see the Post it notes for "Warm Neon Rainbow"in the top section and "canary Yellow"in the bottom section are the same - i think whoever put this claim form together was a little tipsy :giggle:

bellboys

Did you send all the barcodes in the one envelope, i.e. 40 lots? TIA!

Yes all claim forms and bar codes in one envelope, I do this every time. In the past you had to send a SAE for every 5 vouchers but this time they do not require any SAE's.

Any questions please ask as I have been doing this for ages, its a great offer.

I just hope nobody ever look into my depatments post it note useage at work :giggle:

So does this work?
with the ones posted on the pc world site?

I dont wanna go buying £200 of post it notes and then finding it does work lol

also how long do these £5 maestro cards last?
Do they expire?

And has anyone had problems using loads in one go?
i wouldnt mind a xbox 360 for almost half price

Hi Chaps

I've just got off the phone to the Apprentice Offer support team (phone number 0800 121 8692). They are a small team (only 3 of them) and they are currently becoming innundated with phone calls regarding this. So, what I'd say is hold off phoning these guys for now, so they can resolve the issue quickly.

What they told me, is to hold off sending in the claim forms for now, until they have spoken to PC World and their own Fulfillment Centre. They said they'd give me an email about this as soon as they figure out what has happened and what the outcome will be.

So what I suggest to you guys, is go pick them up if you want, but DON'T remove the barcodes on the packaging, so you can return them to PC World if it doesn't pan out.

I'll keep you all informed as soon as I hear something.

Damn, they make you jump through hoops to get free money these days...

Sod it, i'm sending my 2 barcodes in anyway. Doubt if they even have time to check the numbers if theres only 3 of them there pmsl.
