5 litre keg of Magners Reserve 5.5% cider £10 instore only @ Morrisons

Found 2nd May
I know the deals for Old Speckled hen, Budvar and Wainwright kegs have been posted but I don't like beer and with the promise of a warm bank holiday weekend this is right up my street!

5 litre kegs of Magners reserve which is 5.5% abv so stronger than the normal cans and bottles which are 4.5%. They are on offer instore only until end of Tuesday 8th May.

After a couple I might start singing I am a cider drinker by the Wurzels!

Would it not be £13.75? 5.5 units of alcohol per litre x 5 litres = 27.5 units x 50 pence per unit = £13.75.
I know that this is 1% stronger, but is 18x 440ml cans at Sainsbury's not the better offer, that is 7.9 litres, vs. 5 litres, which wiht my poor maths skills is 58% more cider for the same price.

I hope so, that sounds much better... Where I read how to calculate it came out more, I was never good at maths though
Go to lidl, good sider 2L for 1.99
Heading down to Carlisle sometime soon with my trailer. No way am I paying 90 pence for a can of 4% lager that I could buy last week for 50 pence. This law is just punishing us working class guys who like a can of beer. I don't drink cider, whisky or wine. FFS.

It's 50p minimum so the least it could have been was £12.50. Doesn't mean it has to be that price. Anyway these kegs are over rated the cider was flat and they leak all over the place. Stick to tins or bottles imop.
No magners in Ilkeston
Does this taste any better than the normal stuff?

How about the real …How about the real stuff?...http://www.camra.org.uk/cider-not-recognised-as-being-real

Why would I care what some lager drinkers call "real" and why would I choose that over something that I like?

I'm aware plenty of people drink the above Magners its well marketed but there's plenty of people who mistakenly think Magners, etc are proper ciders when they are not, you get what you pay for.
They do use apples in the product however they are not cider apples so in order to make it taste right they use malic acid. The juice is sterilized which kills the natural yeast then packaged yeast has to be added. They also add in a lot of sweeteners as that is the market they have created. They also use apple concentrate which is imported from Belgium & China.

Proper cider often tastes like apple juice most people haven't tried it and are put off because of the mass produced products pumped out by the huge conglomerates.
I also don't understand why you claim CAMRA is lager drinkers? they include a large spectrum of drinks/drinkers and regularly include real cider & Perry at their festivals which due to popularity are the first to run out of the supplies on hand.
None in Willenhall, Middlepiece Way

Because it feels very pretentious. They have a list of drinks which are apparently not "real" by their own definition and therefore everyone else is wrong.

The link you posted claims that carbonation means it's no longer real. Well I like the bubbles! If I have to drink flat cider in order be thought of as a real cider drinking, then I'm not interested. I drink about 4 units per month of this type of drink in total so I would much rather have what I enjoy instead of striving to be "real."

The "lager" bit was a joke by the way, as I knew you would bite ;-)
