Are you one of those types who has been driving in the recent chill with frozen screenwash praying the heat from your engine will eventually defrost it? Perhaps you have been using readymix or the cheapest crap money can buy. If you'd rather it wasn't frozen, buy a few bottles of this before it sells out. It's good to -60 degrees undiluted (many ready mixes/cheap stuff is only rated to about -5 degrees). This sold out of most stores quite quickly last time it was on offer and I think it will sell out even faster this time.

HOT...Good price for undiluted screenwash ( the 'ready to use' varieties equate to very expensive tapwater with some sceenwash mixed in )

Yep seems a good price for stuff that can go down to -60

Didn't realise it needed dilution. Aldi sells 5ltr for £2.99 but I think it's diluted.
You should mention that this is a concentrate (so should Lidl). It will get hotter!

Just bought diluted stuff from Halfords £4.99 for 5ltr

Bought some of this last year and is really good stuff, I've mixed it with about 50/50 water and it was still ok in -14 in Edinburgh.

i bought some concentrated from tescos and it still froze and washers wouldnt work and i didnt dilute it, i put into a empty washer resivor and still froze

Hot water - best defroster
By the way-rubbish screenwash, especially smell. Halfords were doing the same price buy one get one free, that was nice one!

Halfords stuff -6C, this stuff -10C when diluted to 2 parts water.
So 15 Litres of -10C or 10 Litres of -6C stuff (halfords stuff when on bogoff) for the same price?
No brainer, highly recommended on many motoring forums HOT

Sounds to me like someone's been drinking it X)

stock up while you can, this is the best and cheapest proper screenwash you can get in UK

Bought this last winter . Wonderful stuff so i bought it again this winter. Didn`t fail me. I have washer jets on my front lights that have frozen with lesser stuff. This worked a treat.

In a word, NO. It's called planning ahead, just plain common sense! Does this taste like Vodka and should you drink it with ice?

Halfords stuff is nowhere near as good as this stuff. Halfords prices are way over inflated. Unless there is a sale on, Halfords should always be avoided.

I bought a mountain of this last time it was about - I service a lot of cars and this is all I've put in stuff all winter - no call outs or problems with it, perfect.

I've always bought 25litre drums from trade places, but I've found the quality has dropped a lot in recent years, it gets more and more diluted every barrell.

I dunno which stuff you bought from Tesco but when I was looking in there for some, the only one that quoted a temperature rating stated it worked down to "-2"... WTF is the use in that rubbish, might as well just use water.

Got some Holts extreme screenwash for the same price in Costco, not tried it yet so don't know how good it is

Washer bottle frozen but at least the screenwash smells ok- oh dear.
Far better than Halfrauds and will be purchasing.
Holts screenwash in Costco is great too and excellent value.
Voted Hot-Thanks OP

LIDL's "Ultimate Speed Anti-freeze" screenwash. With citrus fragrance .
Undiluted = -60'C
1:1 = -20'C
1 screenwash:2 water = -10'C.

My Local motor factors do arctic screenwash, undiluted, good for -60 undiluted for £2.24 incl vat.
Well worth checking out a proper motor factors before you buy supermarket garbage and end up shelling out on a new washer pump.

Voted Hot.
Still got about 3 litres left over from last winter. This stuff lasts ages (if you dilute it as per the instructions) and I've never had it freeze (even at -15).

Cold.
It's been this price (undiluted) at Asda for months....

I buy astonish from home bargains for 79p for 750ml , never froze on me ,anyone else like it?

You're not too bright are you - never mind!

cold (and not for the obvious reason) i spotted a 5litre bottle in focus diy today at £2-29 and morrisons have a 5litre one for £2.49, making a fiver very very dear indeed.......

Even Halford (don't you love 'em - no me neither) have had to get good stuff in from Scandinavia: it's good to -20C but it's £4.99 for 3 litres, so this stuff is HOT!

Best cat repellent on the market.

You are not comparing like with like, this stuff from Lidl is the best stuff that you can buy anywhere in the UK.

This will sell out within hours.

I had a bottle of the halfords diluted stuff, wife didn't read the label and diluted it in the bottle. I went to top up my car and the stuff in the bottle was frozen solid. Classic!

look dont even bother comparing this product against any of the other crap you see!
This is the best antifreeze screenwash available.
Only problem ive had with it is that it strips the rainx off the screen and it takes a day or 2 to clear it away completely.
Awesome stuff and ill be stocking up on this ready for the tail end of 2011 too
Thanks original poster for the heads up

No matter what temperature it works at, the first thing to freeze are the washer jets and even if you do get it on to the windscreen then it will freeze on contact, funny enough as does hot water.

Funny I never had a problem with my washer jets freezing over. I guess so long as there is only a crust on top of them the washer pump has enough power to force any ice on the jet off, so long as it isn't all frozen in the pipe itself.

Hot water on a windscreen in cold weather is a seriously bad idea.

Anybody else remember when you were able to purchase a "Holts" DIY gadget called "hotwash" which was basically a small heat exchanger that you spliced into a heater hose and which had connections for the screenwash pipe in and out? The idea was this contraption would heat the screenwash fluid as it passed through the heat exchanger and hence render frozen washer jets to be a thing of the past! That said, you still needed to use antifreeze screenwash to stop the water in the reservoir freezing solid!
I always thought it was a good idea but it can't have been too effective otherwise I suspect every car would have the system fitted as standard by now!

This stuff does not freeze at all, even in the severe frosts we have had, this stuff keeps on working.

This is available from Monday 10th Jan in Irish Lidls

This is great stuff. I use it in the Alps where it is really cold!
It is inportant to put it in undiluted and before freezing temps arrive.
Once your washer bottle freezes it can remain like that for days with a big lump of ice in it, even if the temp warms up.
The supermarket stuff is asually diluted and why buy water anyway?

The Costco Holts one works to something like -32, super strong ...adjusting the concentrate for the temperature, this has NEVER let me down, no frozen jets ...even at -20.

The stuff in Asda is rubbish, as is Tesco's. Freezes up badly. This Lidl stuff is the best I have used and it smell's nice too!
