Do You really think Halfords own brand is exactly same as this Mobil 1 ESP ??

Yes in smaller bottles as castrol do 4L
The Castrol in Asda is currently on offer at £12 for 4 litres = £3 a litre as opposed to the mobil at £7 a litre
Is the Castrol in Asda for 12 quid Castrol Edge longlife ?

with VW 504 00/ 507 00 spec (hardly think so)?? Not all oils are the same remember just because is castrol ... this do not mean it can be used in Your engine ...

Castrol oil in asda mentioned above is 15W40 VW 505 00 (Which is about 12 years old specification)so is not full a synthetic oil ... most of modern low mileage engines will not last long on this oil ...Just someone who don't know anything about cars/mechanic will buy oil like that.

In 12 years development of synthetic oils move a lot forward and lubrication given by newish synthetic oils like ESP is much higher and gives You much better protection for Your engine.

It's not the same oil though is it....so comparing per litre prices is pointless, if it was the same product then fair enough, but it's not.

Main difference is viscosity of the oil 5W vs 15W where lower is better for cold start in UK is recommended to use 5w where possible
Thanks. Just ordered. Have some heat.

Not sure why this is cold.

You can't get a VW507.00 spec oil for anything like this price for 5l anywhere - even halfords own 507.00 spec is more expensive....

And as mine requires 4.7l for an oil change, the 4l Castrol Edge cans aren't enough anyway....

This'll save me a shedload taking this in with me for my first service later in the year rather than paying Audi for 5l at their prices....

Only problem is most of people do not realise that not every oils are the same ... and then they complain about damaged engines, turbochargers etc...
some of these comments make me laugh!

This is a really good deal for this spec oil, have some heat!
ok price if its enough for your car

I needed 7 litres for my bmw change
Had it done yesterday at national for £50 inc filter using Castrol Edge 5w30
Would be more expensive for me to buy 2 of these and a filter and the time to change the oil myself

I don't know what you're talking about; do you? Both the Halfords' own one and Halfords' Mobil are 5w30. Perhaps you're talking about the Asda deal?
