Pirates, fancy something to look forward to once the festive season is over and done with, we have come across this lush winter sun getaway to Malta from under £90* per person for a 5 night stay. This is the perfect amount of time to explore this stunning Island as well as having some time to relax too.

You will stay in an award winning 4* hotel with spa and this holiday in Maltadeparts in January and there are many dates at great prices and you can even book with a small deposit.

This is a great offer at under £20* per person per night, if you opted for a 4 night trip you would pay even more - definitely value for money.

Excellent Trip Advisor reviews

One word of advice i would give, the 3-4 resteraunts on the door step of the Solana were all very poor to be honest. You would be much better either eating at the hotel, or venturing a bit further.

Billy's sports bar approx a 5 minute walk was a great venue, and surprisingly good food offered, they happily opened early for the Rugby world cup for me
Solana hotel? Wasnt that the one in the Benidorn comedy? Lol

Great find OP
Excellent! Just going to check for dates between 2nd and 20th January and easy Midlands flight, cheaper than going on a break here.
Way more for Belfast
Solana, very decent hotel by Maltese standards. Went on one of these deals last time I was out there and it was great. If they try to flog you the room upgrade go for it, well worth the extra couple of quid.

Was in Mellieha last December, ok with t-shirt in day, chilly enough for a light jacket in the evening

It's quiet, a few restaurants were open but better to hire a car, Mellieha is a bit remote, much more going on in Sliema
Unpredictable, It's unlikely to be much above 15c and it's usually windy (even in Summer) in the North of Malta where The Solana is.

Pack your big coat.
I was at this hotel 2 weeks ago, fantastic location and facilities...

Any questions, please fire away
Been to the Solana Hotel couple of years ago. It's a beautiful hotel and had great service. Highly recommended!

I also went to the Solana last year. It was excellent - top service. It's in a very quiet area so it's suited to people that just want to relax. The half board option was outstanding value and I'd highly recommend adding that if you're not planning on venturing out each night. The food was very nice with a good selection (and different each night).

They have a new indoor pool which will be handy at this time of year. Obviously the one in the picture is closed (as is the rooftop bar).

May I just inquire please - looking on the Solana website it lists a main restaurant and two additional restaurants (The Prickly Pear and Tosca). These would all still be the hotel itself or are these some of the restaurants on it's doorstep you are referring to?
No they are both inside, and not those i was referring to.

Thanks
Thanks OP, booked myself a little holiday for my birthday! Hotel got a bit of a roasting on TripAdvisor for the state of the rooms so paid a bit extra for what I'm hoping will be a 'better' room. Never been to Malta so not sure what to expect, especially in Jan but worth a punt, even with paying extra for a suite.Fingers crossed!
Heat just for including the departure airport in title.
Only small handbag included Luggage not included upto 20kg £25.50 per person
Lovely resort and nice hotel as long as you get one of the better rooms , been twice but first room we had was awful , only one window and it opened out onto an interior concrete wall so check your room !!!

10KG hand luggage for most folk for 5 nights is very doable to be fair.

La Tosca is the hotel's flagship restaurant and is outstanding. Highly recommended.I wouldn't say it was cheap but it's worth the slightly premium price for a highlight. Also - if you have half board option the hotel will happily either swap your evening meal for lunch that day or alternatively give you a small discount off your La Tosca bill.

True enough, but 15 degrees is about 15 degrees more than it is in the UK

They are not who your holiday is booked through they just list the flights and hotels and no doubt like hukd get a referral fee, loveholidays is the company that the hotel is booked through and the flight is either Malta air of Ryanair. Loveholidays get 4.3 on trust pilot from 21000 reviews 80% either rate it excellent or good . uk.trustpilot.com/rev…com

OK, so just to clarify, half board means you can just avail of dinner in the main hotel restaurant, it doesn't include La Tosca or The Prickly Pear bar offering you a slight discount?

Half board is breakfast and evening dinner in the main hotel restaurant, referred to as Bellini. I can categorically say that half board does NOT include Tosca (barring the small discount instead of the main hotel restaurant as you said).

I wasn't sure what the Prickly Pear was until I just checked the pictures out. That area is just an extension of the lobby bar, in fact if you look at the picture on the website you can see the hatch for the bar. How that relates to the half board option I couldn't say with certainty. I'd be surprised if this was part of the half board option, purely because the way the main restaurant works is that it's buffet help yourself style, so that food is cooked and available whether people with the half board option use it or not. Prickly Pear appears to be cooked to order.

Tosca gets full pretty much every night so they've probably added converted the Prickly Pear for more overall covers.

Incognito about 10 minutes walk from The Solana is about the best mid-price restaurant in Qawra, they have a good choice of English and Maltese food and a very cheap set menu. The Maltese eat there, you can't get a better recommendation.

The lounge bar attached is usually busy with locals and tourists (unlike everywhere else in January) and is reasonably priced.

mmm more Malta. lovely. Just came back from Sliema a week ago we had a fantastic time. Took the ferry to blue lagoon, bit crowded but was amazing. So tempted to go again at this price it's amazing.

This is a room only deal and i cannot find anywhere on the site which says how much it would cost to upgrade to either B & B or Half Board. Does anyone know please?

After you click the book holiday button there is a board basis option on the left from which you can select what you want

Restaurants and bars are open and it tends to be kinda windy so maybe pack a jacket but the Sun was out so you could get lucky.
What would happen if you booked this but didn't turn up for the flights (flying another airline) - would they cancel the hotel?
