is it possible to spend £40 in aldi?

Apart from the hassle of filling two trolleys, this is a great deal. £40 wouldn't fill a basket at Tesco.

Must make an Aldi / Hotukdeal comment bingo card.

Thanks might grab this thursday

Thanks op!!

I used this when they brought out this years winter cycling gear - great deal

last year they did one the week before Christmas as well.....

Got loads from Tesco this week for £40 obviously if you buy the premium brand when they aren't on offer it's going to cost more but we buy what's on offer and tesco own brand products and you get plenty. The only reason people seem to spend more at tesco is that they buy premium products and compare this to an Aldi shop where most of their products are own brand. I've shopped at both these places in the last few week and bill has been similar. Plus I get £5 off my next shop at Tesco every week without buying the paper

Good point but in my opinion the aldi own brand is better quality than the tesco value..I don't know if anyone else finds this. Aldi fruit and veg is undoubtedly better than tesco.

I didn't say Tesco value i said Tesco own brand. The Tesco own brand products are better quality than Aldi from the ones i have tried. Also the fruit and veg is better at Tesco and lasts longer but maybe you're local stores differ to the ones near me or you haven't been to Tesco for a while.

i agree with you aldwin1, the aldi quality is superior to the tesco basic stuff and even some or most of the premium stuff. The chocolate reindeers are in stock now and are simply awesome. i usually buy 3 papers and do 3 shops.. one for baby products, nappies and feeds, then for grocery, and lastly for promotional items or to get more baby stuff... its no bother as there is an aldi near my work place so its a great deal..

it lasts a week and the paper also has a further set of 10 discounts for other products in the shop too so the saving can be even greater.. certainly worth the £1.50 investment :-)

They usually come out at this time in the month (late 20 somethings) each month. :-)

You may be right on the price similarity.I'd disagree about tesco own brand being better but that's just my opinion and down to individual taste. I resent tesco for the 3 for 2 offers. Why don't they just make one item cheaper. The fruit lasts longer in tesco.. My bananas were still green a month later and lacked taste by the amount of preservatives sprayed on them. The fruit is delivered daily in aldi. I go to tesco weekly to buy the infant formula milk as aldi don't stock it so have been recently

my experience by shopping at all major brands, Aldi has undoubtedly the best tasting fruit and veg at lower prices

Do you know what's odd, year after year I hear how Aldi & Lidl are taking huge market share away from the likes of Tescos & Sainsburys. But where I live (North London), there's only 1 (smallish) Aldi within a couple of miles....there are however lots of Tescos & Sainsburys. It therefore follows, that all these displaced shoppers should be hanging from the rafters in the one Aldi that we have (about 2 miles away)....sure there's always a good few customers, but not sufficient to account for why Tescos & Sainsburys profits are being dented by their likes.

Also, if Aldi are doing so well, why are they having to do promotions like this?!

Because discounted supermarkets such as Aldi and Lidl tend to focus on parts of the country where wages are low, jobs are scarce and people don't have money to throw about. In London, where wages are ridiculously high and people have plenty of disposable income, demand for discounted supermarkets will be much lower.

But what we are talking about is - if you listen to the news - the poaching of tesco/sainsburys customers...you're saying that Lid/Aldi are based where folks don't have much dosh (less affluent areas)...in such areas there won't be many tescos/sainsburys stores (& by default - customers) in the first place.

Not in affulent areas? Lidl have stores in Knaresborough and Thirsk, Aldi are presumably opening one in Harrogate and building ones in Wetherby and Ripon. They have started out with stores in inner city areas but are now rapidly expanding, if people want to look why start off the the horsemeat food scare and the list of products withdrawn which made people realise Tesco etc use the same suppliers but charge more. Plus the good reviews, okay some stuff is not that good but others are excellent, take Lidls Fine Cut Orange Marmalade, a third to a quarter of the price of Duerrrs but better- less sugar more fruit. And as to how to spend £40 in Aldi look at their special buys, theres a tv at well over £100 on sale on Thursday for example

As always OP Hot Deal £5 off is £5 off

£5 off promos with Aldi have been onging for quite a few years and long may it continue , if you shop ther its a bonus , if you shop elsewhere or do not like Aldi or Lidl that`s your freedom of choice and good luck to you.

Aldi , Lidl, Tesco and Morrisons are my choice and all give some form of money off voucher and I say take them and use them.

Thanks OP

Apparently it has changed to £10 off £50 now! This will be a great help for me as I am doing some Christmas food shopping this weekend.

The class stereotyping on threads like this are absolutely hilarious. I will gladly save my £5 at Aldi. That alone will buy me a Free Range Chicken which will cost twice that amount elsewhere (£4.99 unit).
I will then spend all my savings on my 3 week holiday to NYC and Boston next year while the Toffs on here are worrying about their children's private schools losing the 20% 'Charity' status.

THANKS OP! (_;)
