£5 off for New Customers @ Asda When You Use Scan & Go

Popped into the Asda at Toryglen (and I assume its nationwide too) and there was a trolley setup with a customer service assistant handing out vouchers to get new customers to use the Scan & Go system.

I had previously used it, but just signed up again with another name and email address and I got a £5 off £40 spend.

Easiest money off I've managed to get.

Easy money but we stopped going there a while ago and started going to Lidl been back for some things a couple of times recently and can’t believe how more expensive it has become or still is compared to Lidl. Easier ways of saving a fiver

heat for the offer though.
Used to shop here but now go to Lidl ...you can save more than £5 lol ...for exactly the same products 🖒

I did the same a few years back but noticed lidl prices have also been creeping up and quality dropping. Maybe a victim of their own success.

I use Lidl and Aldi, and Asda and Morrisons and..... Lidl definitely saves money on some things, but if you look closely, the main supermarkets do destroy them for many lines. If you just use Lidl then you will be missing out on a lot of savings.
I've also found some stuff I've bought in Lidl has been so low quality that it got binned.
Plus the checkouts and queuing in Lidl and Aldi is a real pain. Just know your prices, shop around and and pick up the bargains.

In store. The store itself has to be doing the scan & go.
You can find a scan & go store here - asda.com/sca…go/

We use the scan and go when we do a 'big shop' now.... its much easier being able to scan and bag everything as we go, then simply pay at the end, instead of having to unload the trolley onto the checkout and then bag up / try to keep up with the cashier.
It you combine this with their 20p vegetables and a small turkey crown groceries.asda.com/pro…869 some Bisto.

Potential here for a 4 person Xmas dinner for a few quid.

Thanks for the heads up! My ASDA doesn't have it, but will keep an eye out for it in the future!

This is obviously down to personal taste, i shop at Lidl for a lot of things and my family haven't once thrown any of the food away, the quality is great! Asda on the other hand i find is bland and awful, we throw most things we buy from there away so we don't buy food there at all these days.
Use quick check in Waitrose and it saves a lot of time so good to see Asda rolling this out for the times im shopping there.. although no Asda stores in Edinburgh supporting it yet.

we do do Aldi as well on occasion and we have got to the place where we know what is good and whats not, and tailor our shopping to those items. using local stores for spices and other fresh ingredients instead of the likes of asda where needed. We are also lucky we have a few stores close by and they don't have any real queue especially the new ones.
Well, my butler shops at Waitrose

Yes, but where do you shop?
Even Sainsbury’s is cheaper on most of the shops I’ve boight recently, and the quality of Asda is just terrible. I used to do click and collect, but most items would go off the same day or day after. Just awful supermarket.

Not at all. They are not the same products.
Although convenient to do this, I always try and use a cashier till - it helps keep few more people in work a little longer. I know it's inevitable that cashier checkouts will disappear.

Where I am Pound land now only has one till which is hardly ever open you option is to pay & bag yourself. Staffing down to 1 from 4.
Is there a £40 minimum spend?

Yep, I love Lidl, but the sloooooow checkout is a major put off. I probably walk out before checking out more than I stay in the queue. They really need to get a fast checkout sorted.
shall keep an eye out for this, heat added!
I no longer shop at asda when i was using the self services till i was made to feel like a thief it was awful customer services would never go again.

You have too much time on your hands! I can’t be bothered with driving to each shop for a few bits, god awful queues and bagging system in Aldi and Lidl. Not the best by any means but so much easier to do it in one go.

Doesn't really take up much time, I just pop in during lunch breaks.

I agree with you on these German stores. They look good inside the bags but go bad very quickly. A packet of chicken thighs marked 5 November, by 2nd November, it stank. So they must have changed the date. Funny thing was that they looked so clean when I opened it two days before 2nd.
In the run up to Christmas, everything is cheap and Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda, I prefer to spend my money there. 10p more on vegs, but just look at the quality .. Beat the German stores hands down.
Not in my local store yet, hopefully will be soon! It’ll take the stress out of doing a 2 week shop for me, shopping never fits back in the trolley after I’ve speedily bagged it at the checkout!
Whilst Alsi and Lidl do save you money ,they do not save you time ! Ive watched my fingernails grow in the time it takes to get served at the checkouts . Thats why I prefer Morrisons or Tesco , no queuing forever .
I signed up to the Scan and go system yesterday but didn’t receive a £5 off voucher, how odd! Nevermind, I’ll still use it though as it’s super convenient and saves a lot of time at the checkouts.

BTW, I’ve tried Lidl a few times before, and will never go again, even if it is cheaper. I’ve had to throw out so much stuff that has tasted off, that I’ve probably wasted more money than I’ve spent on buying proper brands at Asda. Aldi on the other hand actually has better quality food and only costs a little more than Lidl.

There should have been someone there handing out the vouchers for the scan and go.

Forgive my lack of geographical knowledge but I thought Toryglen was where the duchy organic fields of wheat were. All waitrose, not asda.
I shop every week at Asda and Lidl. I'm very intrigued about this quality issue with Lidl and people throwing out stuff. Generally I don't see it but maybe I've chosen the quality products I like from Lidl and stick to them. For example, I think their Luxury 50% Fruit and Nut Muesli beats any other premium Muesli (even their own premium brand) into the ground. I can't get enough of their cheap Bellarom 74% Finest dark chocolate. Again, beats their more expensive stuff hands down.
Their fruit and veg is pretty similar to Asda in quality but usually cheaper.
I do agree about the Lidl queues though except our local store is only 9 months old and it has self service which is a big help.
Back on topic, I do a weekly Asda shop for my housebound mother so this scan and go looks good even if I don't get the £5 promotion.
