Exclusive Clubcard offer. For every £500 you spend at our in store travel money bureaux, you'll receive £5 off. Offer ends 9th June 2014 and orders made online are excluded. Maximum £30 off per transaction.

Additional Terms and Conditions

1. For every £500 of foreign currency purchased at bureaux until 09/06/2014, you will receive £5 off your transaction cost. The offer relates to the value of foreign currency purchased and excludes any additional charges such as card handling fees.

2. The offer applies to purchases of foreign currency notes, foreign currency travellers cheques and Cash Passports™. Buy back transactions are excluded.

3. The offer is available on spend up to £3,000, with a maximum of £30 off.

4. Only available in store, not online or over the phone.

5. Not available in conjunction with any other Tesco Travel Money offer, including Price Match.

The problem with this - If you use a credit card for currency purchase it counts as a cash advance, so you'll be paying the cash advance interest right from the start , the £5 off per $500 (1%) wont go anywhere near covering this . Buy Holidays,flights holiday extras by credit card (gives you additional protection ) , but buying currency with a credit card is not a good idea .

I stand corrected , the deal is hot as Travelex who do Tesco travel money give great rates. This is also a great plus for the Tesco Credit card as all the other ones I'm aware of treat foreign currency purchase as a cash advance

Travelex do indeed give good rates, but only online. The in-store rate is always less favourable than the online rate and the discount will probably not be enough to cover the difference.
