Can be... we have 1 knife left out of the lot... the blades would probably last forever but the handles are poor, for £3.49 you get what you pay for though so don't expect these to last you longer than a year! Our starting falling to bits after a couple of months...

To be honest i personally aint much of a cook so if i get a year out of them thats a bargain tbh. I appreciate a lot of folk wouldn't touch these and go for a professional set but they suit my very very basic needs.

reserved myself some, thanks :-)

Hot for the price

Can anyone recommend a decent sturdy knife? Something that will actually handle a butternut squash!

super price.. voted hot

These'll do. I ain't no Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen (well, I do the swearing bit), so these will get minimal usage and will probably outlive me.

If it don't come in a cardboard box with reheating instructions I ain't 'aving it...

Nice to have an Argos offer on here where there are some left in stock (Bulwell have three left)

If you are not a knife purist and are just looking for a good all-rounder:

My current one has so far lasted 23 years although it does have a wooden handle

I have had my current Knife for 52 years & it has only had the blade replaced 3 times & one handle they just dont make them like they used to

cheap knives are a false economy

Not bad

blimey they are not even reduced in price - that's what they sell for oO

True ... it is more than buying a good knife - it's just the simple pleasure of using it which is worth paying for ...... the cutting edge on these will be as flat as a witches tit within the hour!

I`ve used the same knife for 20 years and its only had the blade replaced 6 times and the handle replaced 4 times. lol

If you have a friend with a wholesaler card most wholesalers sell professional kitchen knives for around £12 each, usually including a 15 year guarantee for professional use = last a lifetime for domestic.

Triggers broom is it?

great for playing knifey-spoony

Very cheap. I've notice from the picture that most of them are serrated/wavy. Not necessarily a bad thing but, it's nice to have an couple of unserrated ones in the set. B.T.W. I've bought argos knives before and some of them were good quality.

Serious question but wouldn't a knife sharpener keep these in tip top shape?

I've ordered, waiting on an experts answer.

Would probably snap the blades in half.

I've never had to replace my handles or blades.

I replace both at the same time. -_-

These look (see last picture on argos link) exactly like the ASDA value knifes I purchaed a year go, even the knife block is identicle. You can't sharpen these as they have serrated edges. You can only sharpen smooth edges. The asda blades are sturdy as are these, you can see from picture the blade is fasted by three screws and extends the length of the handle. They are ok for general use but when you try good knifes you realise what you are missing out on.
