The £3 off code didn't work when I bought mine, so it cost me £20

You need to charge 20 devices?!

Damn, was just about to post this!

Got one of these. It whistles (cue comments about which tune!). Don't use it near your bed!

The IQ one is better, well worth paying the extra

What's the IQ ?

this is good price - paid £12 for the same one that was Anker branded few months ago - good quality, didn't experience the humming problem that some users complained

Is that a crime?

Do you live alone or not have other family members who have their own bedrooms where they charge their tablets and phones or have other USB devices that need to draw power such as chromecast etc?

The IQ varient of this monitors the usage on each port. It then supplies the required power. So you can plug a high current device into any port and it will work. There are no low power or high ports on the IQ model. From what I've read on HUKD the IQ model seems to be have a lot of fans. I got the IQ model and it just seems to work.

The sales blurb is here ianker.com/pow…riq

Not sure how the unit does this the details seem complex I know the Andriod 4.2 update removed the need on some devices for special cables though many devices are not always running all the updates. I might be folk with mixed Apple and Andriod requirements or folk who don't want to use specific cables (took me a while to work this out!)

To bypass the 500mA USB charge current the DATA lines simply need to be pulled low, chargers like this achieve this by simply having the DATA lines shorted together in the charge device. That way even a non charge USB cable that has it's DATA lines complete can charge devices at full speed.

My Anker IQ charger is fanless - surely it can't make so much heat it needs active cooling?

Thanks, ordered. Heat added.....;)

I thought Amazon let you off with £9.99?

Did they stop that?

Tempted to buy this, I noticed that each port has a device name next to it, does that mean it can only charge the device its labelled for? What i'm asking is could I charge 5 android devices or 5 apple devices at once?

Odd, when I first ordered I'm sure there was no Free delivery option, it was saying I needed to add 0.01p to be eligible. Just gone to do it again and your right, the option for super saver was there. Ah well, I wasted 0.1p No lunch for me this afternoon :*(

Does this charge your device in quick time or does that depend on the quality of the actual charge wire connected to the device(phone/tablet)via this?

review mentions something about only being able to power 5 amps max at any one time? so what would a moto g and such devices be classed as? and then ive got a ainol 7'' tablet?

I'm fairly well-known around here for my facetious comments

HOT HOT HOT, Thank you. Thats my bargain buy of the day done.

Any link for cheap charging USB cables? All my USB cables are data ones and charge android phone / windows phone / hudl at 500mA. Not a fan of modifications, and definitely not a fan of paying £4+ for a cable that normally costs £1 (if not pennies from Far East)

I have this charger, no coal whining with mine (paid 12.99-5off (eBay coupon) on their eBay store).

Anyone know if this could be used to charge a Sansa Clip peeps?

Well if you do find decent but cheap cables, please let us know..

The cheap ones I've bought don't charge quickly and don't handle data too well...

I have found THIS UK seller on ebay...

30cm USB charging cable @ £4.95

1.5m USB charging cable @ £5.45

2.5m USB charging cable @ £5.95

Adaptor to convert a data USB cable to charging @ £4.45

By no means cheap, and don't be fooled by the extravagant descriprion (high quality etc), it's just a cheap USB cable with short-circuited data lines. But it seems it's the only solution.
