it says that the £4 is including VAT on site

I wouldn't recommend this shredder. Anymore that 3 sheets, the shredder has a heart attack and just shuts off. I use it in my office and i absolutely detest it. Put your money towards a decent one i say.

Was waiting for a deal on a shredder after paperwork clear out, cheers OP. Extra 46p is order care, click link at checkout and remove it. Cash-back would be around 20p ish... if you can be bothered!

I can never use shredders, they make me feel really bad about myself.

Maybe it's just me, but it sounds so sad when you put paper in it and it sounds like it's having a hard time shredding it. The sound of strain when you put too much in it.

It makes me feel like I'm actually 'hurting' the shredder's feelings and I have to stop using it.

I'm serious, by the way

Sorry OP, voted cold.

If anyone is going to purchase a shredder; it should at least be a cross cut shredder. It's worth the small 'investment'.

I swear when i saw the picture I thought it was the world's cheapest guitar amp.

thanks

Thanks , it'll do me for that price.

Jaysus she's immense.

I bought a cross cut one from John Lewis for £35 recently, collect free from a local waitrose or John Lewis

It had a 2 yr warranty and highly reccomended. I put the waste in my compost bin rather than sticking it in the rubbish

I'm adding heat, while I can see your point about cross cutting if that's all you do before binning, but I'd rather burn anything with personal information on and stips just burn easier. I have two bins, Secure destruction stuff that has to be burnt and everything else with no personal details.

If someone wants to reconstruct my docs they will have a hard time working anything out from ash. In terms of order of difficulty to reconstruct its;

Original page - obvious
Strip cut - pretty easy
Cross cut - hard puzzle
Burnt - near impossible

At the end of the day even cross cut doc's with a bit of patience is quite easy to put back together as it's just a larger jigsaw. Yes I'm obsessive about security but then again I've never had a card cloned or my details abused as a result. If anything it's quite easy to throw into a BBQ grill before you get started to get rid of it all anyway.

Yes, if you wanted to be 'extreme' you could burn as well. But I don't burn paper, only things like address labels from parcels amongst other things (basically things which cannot be put through a shredder). Otherwise, pretty much everyone in this country should use a cross-cut shredder. If they don't and become a victim of identity theft or whatever, it's their own fault.

Strip cut shredders are pretty useless, as it's still very easy to put documents back together. The only people who should use strip cut shredders are if you are really poor and cannot afford to buy a cross-cut shredder, although you can buy them for like £20; so they are not even expensive. Maybe even less if you can get them in a sale.
