my friend is there as we speak - they have had one or two days where they have had to sit indoors due to "gabriel" they are filming it and posting on facebook looks quite cool - other than that they are having the time of their lives

Don't bother with the Dominican Republic if you are going to the Caribbean. Every other island there would be a better holiday.

A few suggestions... Aruba, Curacao, St Kitts, St Lucia, St Maarten, Martinique. You are welcome.

I stayed in that hotel about 10 years ago, best place ive ever been to and would go back in a flash if i could!

I stayed here about 5 or maybe 6 years ago.
I would also return if I could have the time off, and had the money at my fingertips.
good deal, voted hot

yes it is the same place as in the mail, but as I said I just came back from there and Thomson/first choice have sorted it out, look at the new reviews if you like, youll find mine there also

I wanna just drop everything on go.. 14 nights of chill..

Stayed there twice, very good, but the
Mail story gets you a bit worried.

I've stayed at a Riu Palace in the Dominican and I found the staff to be the most ignorant effers I've ever experienced, even when you tip so that you would hope to get served next time they walk round ignoring your waving hands so it costs a fortune in tips to get a drink at an "all inclusive" resort. If this place had serve yourself bars then it'll be fine but if its table service only forget it.

Great hotel, been there twice, staff couldn't have been more welcoming & helpful. doubt you'll find another deal for one of the other Caribbean islands at this price, however, just remember this is north coast Atlantic ocean.

I have never tipped in an AI resort.. That is the point of it..

I have stayed here twice, 1st just over 10 years ago - Excellant - luxurious. The 2nd time was around 4 years ago and it had definately declined, but didnt encounter any of the problems they are have currently!

Gah, please go and look at the most recent reviews!!! Its fine now, calm down!!!

5* my a**e ... stayed at the sister hotel Bachata (same resort) a cpl of yrs back. Every weekend masses of locals turn up and take over the place. The spirits were somewhat weak , every new bottle under the bar had already been opened, cases and cases of pre opened spirits .The beer was pish too come to mention it. .. so if there was drunken louts they must have taken their own.
The rooms beside the pool and bar were dark and awful .. friends of ours were there 3 weeks and their clothes and cases went mouldy with mildew . We insisted on a better room and wouldnt move until we got it. The food was ok though so if u wanna eat yourself to death in 2 weeks give it a go.

we paid £700 each and it still wasnt worth it esp considering the tips if u want served , the fee to get in and out of the country , and the excess on your insurance for when you need the docs due to the screaming abdabs you will inevitably get after a cpl of days

I went to this Hotel in April and the locals took over the place two days a week. All loungers were taken and there wasn't a free table in the restaurant. I wouldn't recommend. I wish is paid more and gone somewhere else

If you can afford £774 each for a holiday, pay a little more and do an all inclusive in Mexico or somewhere that doesn't have such a bad reputation.

Hi Stacey,

Can you please help.... i am looking for a holiday from around 10th October (+- 3 days) to a nice beach resort but am having difficulties finding a good deal.... the countries i had in mind were Agadir/Tunisia or something a bit more exotic like Dominican Rep./Mexico

I think you will find it was an excited comment, as in I like it here and was excited to see a deal on it, but hey thanks for highlighting this comment with rudeness

I have travelled the Caribbean alot, and Dominica is at the pokey end of the tropical experience.
The tropical Blackpool.....that is all

Hi sunshine Stacey I have noticed you get some great deals , could you maybe help me find some cheap flights please? I wanna go to Malaga from either Leeds/Bradford,ema,dsa,or man from the 26th oct to the 4 th nov 2 adults and a 12 yr old any tips?

I stayed at the Riu Merengue about 15 years ago and I can honestly say that I have never felt so unsafe. The hotel was fine but the Dominicans/Haitians despise Europeans, so much so we were told not to go out of the complex without an escort. The few times we ventured outside the complex on organised tours we were put in horrible situations - we took a 'zebra bus' out in to the banana plantations and once we reached a shanty town we stopped for 10 long minutes to take on fluids. We were surrounded by children and locals holding out their hands, with the driver/tour operator telling us to throw coins off the side. Once we were out of any spare change we left and went on to the next shanty town. We didn't have anything to give and the locals got aggravated. We demanded to be taken back to the hotel after that.

Trust me, unless you like being taken advantage of, don't leave the complex. Even then there's nothing to do around the hotel. I'd save up and spend the extra £££'s on going back to Barbados.

Someone should create a SunshineStacey website so we can ask for help on finding holidays......

I know I am struggling to find a decent City Break in November to Barcelona even website suggestions to look on would be a start

I have stayed here twice and the hotel complex is great, you get the use of the 3 hotels that are part of the bigger complex. I would go back in a flash and as to the fact that it's dangerous, really? You can get mugged in New York or Barcelona easily, if you go to Jamaica or Barbados you could easily get stopped by gangs, people have to grow up and be sensible.

We did some organised trips with Buggys in the jungle (really a forrest), trip into the jungle on the safari bus they took us to a secluded swimming lake and also out to the sea to do some boogie boarding, was totally great. Snorkeling off the shore is also possible with all the tropical fish swimming around you in the clear tropical waters ... I'm making myself jealous to go back now .. the guys in the entertainment team are true superstars keeping everyone happy

I was at the riu merengue July this year so I know first hand the trouble they had there and what was reported was true, this used to be a fantastic resort, but not now, it's very dated, could do with some investment from riu and turned into riu palaces because where these three hotels are situated is amazing its just a shame riu have let so many people ruin the place with cheap deals. If they have sorted it out it should be ok but don't believe everything Thomson tell you.

Hi,

I always check Holiday Hypermarket as I have booked with these a few times and found them cheaper on alot of holidays. I have checked this deal and it is £18 cheaper with Holiday Hypermarket.
Hey £18 will get you a couple of pints in the airport!!

Weather is terrible at mo. Hurricane season. Hence the price
