A VPN can harvest more data than google could ever envisage obtaining (unless you have google WiFi) if you are serious about privacy, research and pay for a VPN that offers it. You are handing them every bit of your data so in a way a free VPN worse than not having one because it’s routing your whole connection with this vague illusion of privacy.

that being said if you are just wanting to watch region specific sports and film services you might not care

I only recommend Nord VPN and Express VPN, the first one is cheaper and very reliable. The second one is very fast and also reliable.
Or use openvpn for free: HERE
I have this vpn and when selecting to US,its slow......

If you need VPN for firestick than look somewhere else. I tried for few months to get it to work properly, cs was great trying to help but it has never really worked.
On computer, phone and tablet it has been great though.

In my experience with purevpn most servers will slow you down by around40- 50%. I am not sure if this is the same with other vpns as I have not used others myself.

If you want the best pirvacy go with TOR, or just do not use VPN. If VPN is essential Mullvad VPN or Proton VPN is the best or maybe Tunnel Bear. The rest are not good for privacy. Or just rent a Proxy server.
I think I will stick with PIA, no trackers, but thanks

nobody is streaming or downloading films through tor. I don’t disagree with the whole proxy route but it’s about acceptable risk isn’t it, a VPN is a pretty convenient well known way to change region and hide from your ISP while downloading. It’s always about choosing the one that fits your needs and expecting privacy and speed from a free or extremely cheap service
I only want a vpn to clear iptv blocks and to let me download torrents from a site blocked in the UK. I use digibit vpn on my phone, firestick, formuler z7+ and android tablets. Minimal loss of speed and only £2 a month with no need to commit to a long term.

Not very accurate. Vpn provider would be able to see same thing as ISP. Which means mostly sites you are visiting but not data you are exchanging. If site has no ssl(which is unlikely as a lot of browsers would warn user not to visit the site) then yes - it is possible to have information on activity with some effort.

Yeah TOR is not good for torrenting but good for anything else.
I only use VPN when I torrenting otherwise it is not necessary.
Proxy is better for torrenting, gives you more speed but it is not that secure as VPN.
A good firewall, a good browser with extensions and disable many things in the settings (location, the whole Google, do not use any social network, etc.) is the best way for privacy.

isn’t that what I’ve just said, maybe confusing as I said all data I just meant identity and every visited site not just linked to google.

totally agree i VPN for torrenting and streaming football from abroad. I just don’t have the same trust for proxies so I can cope with the slight speed loss.

NordVPN works flawlessly for me. As soon as firestick comes on it auto connects and without issues.

Not really that worried, nothing to hide and am valueless. Well-tried it and am now in Poland, Okla can't find a server for me and Virgin doesn't block me getting PB but all in Polish!
Is there any kind of independent research group/organisation that rates VPN's?
Just tested on the UK server and it topped out at 60 Mbps.
Make sure you make the right choice if you have virgin media.
Some VPN are better than others with virgin media, any suggestions welcome
Used this for a couple of months, very slow and unreliable connecting to US. Android version barely works.

Personally i would rather have no VPN than Pure VPN.

I use Express VPN. More expensive, but you get what you pay for.

How are we expected to trust a company giving this info with affiliat links?

Their findings are clearly swayed by $$$.
They still big up Nord. That's a company that can't be trusted, clearly with their leak recently.

This VPN contains trackers as well:reports.exodus-privacy.eu.org/en/…st/

And you can not be anonym, because during paying for the service you have to give your details.
Only VPN where you can pay for the service anonym is Mullvad VPN.
