Looks like they now charge an annual £25 fee on the platinum card. I've had mine for ages now and never had to pay a fee. If they now charge new customers that sucks and makes this deal less pleasant.

the £25 PA amex has a static cashback rate, the free version has tiered rates.

When I had one of these years back had a lot of problems with petrol stations and shops not accepting Amex. Has this changed now? Was always ok at national store retailers but not at local based ones.

never had a problem with petrol stations. Have had the odd problem with some shops and the odd rare restaurant.

Most places, especially supermarkets accept these; though they probably wish they didn't!

It's certainly better than it was (most petrol stations seem to accept), still the odd retailer that doesn't though (eg Morrisons).
You also sometimes get other benefits: statement credits at retailers, foursquare offers and shopsmall credits.

Mine is used all the time in Morrisons, there was a period when they didn't have the IT equipment capable of handling the cards, but they got over that.

The biggest problem for me is you can't use it at B&Q, but have found a lot of places online that don't accept the cards, do accept PayPal, and you can use the Amex card for PayPal payments.

How strange, was told Morrisons didn't accept AMEX when paying last week, maybe all staff don't realise they have changed,or the IT upgrade isn't 100% rolled out yet.
