Exchange tesco clubcard points for virgin miles currently giving 50% bonus . £2.50 = 937 miles. Sign upto auto miles instead of clubcard vouchers for another 1000 miles.

Florida for example is 45000 miles + £275 taxes.

If you want to boost them even more get the AMEX gold card, once you spend £2K in 3 months you will get bonus points which you can exchange for 22,000 miles (or £110 Amazon vouchers etc). Plus you will earn about 1000+ miles on the £2K spend, I earned a total of 23500 points, but you can only redeem in 1000 increments.
Once you get the card you can refer a friend and you can earn
12,000 miles

Er, I think you'll find (as I have over a number of years) that miles + money fares simply do not exist at a time when an ordinary person with kids might like to use them. You can buy any number of full price seats but trying to find a flight that you can use these miles on during a school holiday is a completely pointless exercise. I've got 70,000 miles with VA that I can't use until my wife stops working in school and my kids have left home!

And how do you exchange miles for amazon voucher?

Think it's AMEX points rather than Tesco CC points that you can exchange for Amazon vouchers.
Tesco aren't going to assist you by giving vouchers to a competitor to their Direct service.

That isn't true. You just need need to check first thing every day until they release them. I went to Chicago in August last year for about 45000 miles + £300 taxes. It is annoying that they won't just let you use air miles on any available seat but that is the way that Virgin operate.

What is all this about 45000 miles? To America and back? Are these typos if not what is the point of calling them miles?

I use miles often for summer hols to Florida, not always easy to find but with regular searches and patience they usually turn up at some point.
For example on time I searched 5-6 times a day from September, eventually booked Miles & Money seats on Xmas morning, 3+ months of searching, probably over 500 searches.
For last August I booked PE reward seats, quite easy as soon as they were released, I then eventually booked PE Miles & Money for friends in Feb for August dates, £700pp instead of £1200pp full fare. saved them £2,500 as they were just about ready to cave and pay full.
You have to search multiple times a day, sometimes for months and months but they do release them, have a day off and you can miss them, they go in hours.

shame there is no phone app that alerts you to when seats are available to book using air miles but saying that you would get hundreds of people booking them at the same time so back to squre one

good deal op I want the same deal for Avios,Tesco did the similar deal last year for 50% extra, will agree that sometimes can be very difficult to use up on BA flights(Avios)

I also hope they do a special offer for Avios/BA.

For long haul and availability Avios/BA is generally poor, but where it works well is for internal flights within say, South America. I got the cheap Peru deal on here and booked internal flights, Lima to Cusco for less than £6 each and Arequipa to Lima for just over £3 using BA miles and flying with TAN.

Let me get this straight -- Florida is 45,000 miles plus £275 taxes, per flight?
At 937 miles for £2.50 in vouchers, I need 937 * 49 = 45,913 miles, which costs me £2.50 * 49 = £122.50 in vouchers?

So even if I just count vouchers at face value (they of course are often worth double or triple or even quadruple face-value in deals and exchanges), I'm still paying £275 + £122.50 = £397.50 per flight?

And on top of that, I likely have to search 500 times to find the deal, and if I don't, I'm stuck with Virgin Air Miles and have to spend them somewhere else.

Florida is not worth that much bother, in my book (and I've been at least 4 times).

I'm not voting -- because if flights truly cost £700-plus (that's what my niece paid last summer), then taking it down to £397.50 is a good savings. But that doesn't change the fact it was horribly bad value to start with!

Give it up folks, get a caravan, go to Europe and show your kids a great holiday including culture (and even a trip to Disney if you must, but there are far better European theme parks like Europapark and Efteling).

Ok, there's my grumping over with.
