"Launching on Learning at Work day, and to celebrate NEC's 50th year of providing learning opportunities we are pleased to announce the first of 12 free courses!

Each topic is a self-contained extract from a full NEC course. The materials you receive will provide full details on what you can expect to gain and the approximate time it will take you to study, including activities, self-assessments, opportunities to reflect, and an example assignment at the end. Information is also included about the wider courses from which each of our topics are taken, if you would like to know more.

We will release a new course each week for the next 12 weeks, and they will be available until the end of September 2013. There will be something for everyone, with subjects from law, economics and accounting to childcare, climate change and short stories. "

The twelve free courses are:
- Children's Growth and Development
- Critical Thinking
- Accounting Principles, Concepts and Conventions
- Climate Change and Alternative Energy Resources
- Short stories
- Globalisation and international trade
- Electrical currents and practical electricity
- Law: introduction to crime
- Studying prose and drama
- Double-entry book-keeping and accounts

Just the pdf -- so it's not as good a deal as NEC makes out. Besides which, it's not whole courses -- the 'wider course', together with feedback, is available if you pay for it. See below:

Law: introduction to crime

I didn't realise you needed a course for this, most of the people where I live don't have an education, let along attend any courses and they seem pretty good at what they do

Thanx heat added

Although they are saying this is a week by week thing, it appears you could download them all now and do each in your own time once you've actually received the PDFs.

They're not saying it's a week by week study course. It's one pdf file for each ("extract of a") full course. The week by week reference is to the roll-out they had for the different courses.
