Great price, even better than the price on the Apple refurb store! (£569)

So new was already cheaper than a refurb? How does that work?
Can't imagine myself getting too excited, the small difference in price to the new ones makes the idea of paying premium price for none premium tech feel a bit insensible. I was hoping there would be bigger drops on old tech when the new ones came out but at this price you may as well get the new ones if possible.

I mean the storage alone is worth £50 by Apple's usual pricing scheme so to then get the additional faster screen, processor, graphics, better cameras (probably go unused anyway though) and if you're going for the smaller version you even get more screen space now since that went from 9.7" to 10.5".

The RRP is £549, how is a refurb even more expensive?

Not to mention that it launched at £499!

The word pro
Not yet a hot deal but worthy of putting on the highlights list..... makes you wonder if Argos paid to have it put there
I’ve got a gen 1. This isn’t a big enough saving. The new one has been universally acclaimed to be better. The 120 refresh being the key issue! Really would say the processor and screen are worth the extra. £150 then maybe.
Have had this iPad for a year and it's great, but I'd recommend to look for one on eBay as I managed to get a new 32gb cellular for £430 last summer

I've just gone from a first gen 12.9 ipad pro to the new 12.9 ipad pro and the display is quite a big upgrade over the old model with the 120hz ,most dont know but it is actually a HDR display.I was lucky enough to be able to test both out side by side and ran a number of performance tests, and the new model is a big jump in power.

Defo worth paying the extra to get the new model if funds allow it.
After their price hike after vote leave, it’s still more expensive then when it launched.

This isn’t a deal.

The storage tiers are doubled too. Problem for me is I have the Air 2 and I had a Pro 12.9 but the Air 2 did everything I wanted and had the better display that the 'new iPad' lacks. Probably will get a Pro 10.5 as the extra screen real estate is very nice but not as cumbersome as the 12.9.

I know the reviews say the new one is better but I wonder if they would saythat if it was their own money being spent on it!

Well I’m still using an iPad 4 as well! Not so much now I got a 7+. I couldn’t go below the 12.9 iPad Pro as the sole reason I bought it was to use spilt screen apps for note taking and annotating PDFs. Even the 10.5 isn’t fit for that purpose. I also don’t think I’d benefit from the new features and I’ve got the 128GB model. That’s more then enough for a lot of media and thousands of PDFs and notes!

The price rise was nothing to do with Brexit as they put there prices up everywhere bar the usa. It’s to do with greed!

can you explain why 120Hz matters? This is the first tablet where someone talks about the Hz. I see it on TVs and monitors - but what in a tablet makes this desirable or noticable?

The following video has a good explanation. The whole video is worth a watch, although the display-related details are at the 3:53 mark.

The Pro is designed for use with the Pencil - the 120Hz improves the drawing performance (think it's less than 20ms now?) and also general performance on other functions (scrolling etc). Note the iPad Pro varies it's refresh up to 120Hz depending on what you're doing so that where it can save power it drops to a lower 60Hz.
Personally wouldn't get the 9.7" Pro. Even the Apple Store employee said you're best off saving money and getting the 'new iPad' or spending more to get the 12.9. As much as I love using that 12.9 I imagined it being quite cumbersome. Decent deal if this fits your needs though.
I have ipad air 2 (just for surfing/pics etc) its case is damaged (does not affect its use) I was tempted to upgrade to 128gb pro but would I really notice the difference

Yep not Brexit at all.

When it launched it was priced identically to the US - £499 excluding VAT was $597. It's US price was $599.

When they raised prices £499, again excluding tax, was only worth $514.

£549 excluding VAT was $566 so still represents a better deal than the US price.

Not sure what caused the currency devaluation, but it sure wasn't Brexit...

Ive owned most iPads over the years. I use my 9.7" pro 90% of the time with Smart Keyboard so this is a nice touch. Also the quad speaker and true tone display make it worth it over the air inmo. That being said I have a 10.5" and 12.9" in front of me right now. The slightly larger display on the 10.5", better spaced Smart Keyboard and that 120hz display make it the best overall iPad Apple have made. I'm undecided on the 12.9" because it kinda feels overkill and a lot of website just enlarge on the display. Sure bigger is better but is it worth the extra cost?

Frustrated the 9.7" is discontinued so resell value has tanked!

Thank goodness there are other people as potty as I am!

I've had every iPad except iPad 4 and the new ones (iPad, iPad Pro 10.5, iPad Pro 12.9 2nd generation).

You guys are now pouring petrol on my smouldering desire to get the 10.5. You have to stop!

Seeing Apple discontinue the 9.7" pro makes me reconsider owning the 10.5" or 12.9" as Apple are due to introduce a redesigned iPhone in Sept so next year the iPad design could also change significantly. This would also kill resell value on the current new iPads. Of course "buy what you need today" but Apple products are kind of like a drug!
I think cheapest the iPad Pro has been was last November 21st when Argos did 10% off plus 10% quidco 128gb ended up at £525.69
Can anyone tell what the difference is between the 9.7' Pro and the 9.7 (2017)? I currently own an iPad Air 2 and thinking of upgrading to the 9.7 Pro!

Do NOT (imho!) consider the iPad 2017 (non-Pro) as an upgrade! The screen on the Air2 is better than the 2017 iPad (but iPad 2017 does have a slightly faster CPU!)

The 9.7" Pro has the same screen construction as the Air2 but can use the Apple Pen.

Thanks - gone and purchased a 9.7 Pro
The only difference to this deal over the refurb store is you are paying an extra £30 for a retail box and being able to go and get it the same day. The refurb store untis will appear brand new and have the same warranty as this one.
