50% off fitted wardrobes @screwfixwardrobes

Found 27th Feb 2014
Have been on the lookout for a couple of fitted wardrobes for my new house for months now but the cheapest I have been able to find till date have been over 2 grand each for wardrobes measuring approximately 13 X 8 feet.Ikea's PAX systems are the only ones that I would regard as approaching value for money but unfortunately you cannot have them made to measure.

With the 50% off deal I have managed to order 2 wardrobes with shelves+delivery from Screwfix for £750 each.Mind you, I chose the top spec on offer but they have a variety of doors, storage solutions etc so you could potentially get something very decent and bespoke for a lot less. Lead time of 2 weeks is also pretty good for something that's made to measure. If you live in the West Midlands, pick up from the factory could save you an additional £45 on delivery.

It's received excellent reviews here..

ekomi.co.uk/rev…tml

Check responses to whingers on MSE too..

PAX from Ikea would set you back £850+delivery for something a lot smaller and you would be looking at many thousands for a similar wardrobe from high street chains or bespoke furniture makers.

I expect thus to be voted cold but I hope at least some of you would be able to take advantage of this great offer before it disappears into the black hole of dud deals.

Fitting is not included.

Have bought 8 mdf sheets in B&Q £17 each for two wardrobes with sliding doors. Cutting was for free. Painted them by myself and fitted with a friend. Spend 1 day. Now have to buy sliding door mechanisms and doors. Which will cost me £500 more. So I will pay in total £750 for two wardrobes. Sizes are 2.4*2.2m and other is 2.4x1.8m.

All seems very expensive after the discount!

You would have to be a very competent DIYer to contemplate something like that and I suspect the end product looked exactly that a DIY job.Besides the ones I have ordered have glass sliding doors with runners, built in shelves etc, all of which would be beyond any DIYer

Can you point me to somewhere cheaper so I can cancel and reorder?

They are not fitted wardrobes then. They are wardrobe kits for fitting oneself.

Fitted just means they got floor to ceiling ie they fit in the space available rather than having gaps to the ceiling like a standard wardrobe does

Go Google fitted wardrobes and stop wasting our time.

This deal might have some potential for me. I don't mind putting it together myself. We have a fairly high ceiling, so this could be perfect.

This is HOT.. I got some from Screwfix a couple of years ago and they were easy to fit and have lasted really well. This is an actual 50% off not just a con RRP sale ...

I was looking for a fitted wardrobe but prices are stupid, in the end I've bought this
ebay.co.uk/itm…731?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
fits almost exactly in the gap and looks much better

These only go up to 8 1/2 feet but they supply height reducers for higher ceilings

Looks nice but not made to measure though. I was planning on getting PAX from Ikea myself but it would have left 20 cm and 8 cm gaps on the sides and top which the missus wasn't happy about (plus at £850 plus del it was stupid money for flat pack furniture).Tried getting quotes from the likes of Sharps and but everything was coming back at over 2 grand per wardrobe. Having never bought something like this before, I am surprised how much one could end up paying for what is essentially a few mirrors on wheels and shelves in this country. I even tried sourcing from manufacturers in the continent but prices are similar plus you run the risk of damage during transit, poor fitting etc.

For those ordering this, please ensure that the measurements are spot on as it's specifically stated in the T&Cs that distance selling regs do not apply in case of wrong measurements.

Anyone know when this expires? We just bought a house with an L shaped bedroom and thinking that if i stick a warddrobe front on it, I can use it as a walk-in wardrobe.

Sorry, I forgot, you haven't much free time with all this wardrobe fitting you'll have to do, using these 'fitted wardrobes'.

According to the very helpful chap from customer services I spoke to earlier in the week, the offer was only announced at the weekend and could be pulled any time depending on demand (hence the absence of a definitive end date on the deal)

I believe they offer a fitting sevice (for a price of course) for those unable to use a screwdriver..

Not so much unable more like unwilling.

Hi if any of you are interested I do fitted wardrobes a hell of a lot cheaper than that, inc hi gloss doors

If anyone wants my 2 pennies worth then I'd suggest looking at Ikea's sliding wardrobe door range. Excellent quality, good price & look expensive.

This looks interesting, I've got some very old fitted wardrobes in a very dodgy 1970's wood-effect style finish - functional, but very dated looking..
Want to update the look of them, so this might be an option. Thanks.

looks like some good deals to be had.

I'm a little confused... are these free standing ie they have a back to them or do you have to attach them to the wall ( it says you will have to cut your skirting board in the measurement section) ? It looks a good deal but I would need to phone them tomorrow for advice as I am not very practical!

I have 3 space-slide systems (2 wardrobes in bedrooms, 1 run to cover the width of the back of our garage conversion, behind which is the "utility" area) and They are great. The Aluminium thin profile doors look classier than the steel framed ones (but cost quite a bit more). If you are going wall to wall on these e.g. across the width of a room or alcove then this makes for a very tidy job. Ours look like they were always there. For the competent DIYers with a sliding mitre saw (to cut the liners and runner rails neatly and quickly), this is a 1 hour job for 2 people (those doors are quite heavy).

The Apollo storage system looks classy and is very versatile, although I personally would give the drawers a miss and buy a set of Ikea ones to stick between the stanchions - far cheaper. You would pay almost 3 times as much as the full RRP for the equivalent Sharps bedroom treatment.

These are expensive for what they are at 50% off, but they look the dogs when fitted, as good as anything Sharps bedrooms etc would fit you.

My first system has been in 3 years and the roller mechanism is still as smooth as new.

toaster, when did you become a gimpoid? Normally you are sensible.

When you buy fitted sheets, this does not mean someone comes to your home and makes your bed for you. When you buy a fitted shirt, an oompa loompa does not come and dress you. Fitted, in this context, simply means the thing fits a certain shape/space/area.

These are not fitted wardrobes, they are made-to-measure wardrobes.

End of.

looks like it`s expired

Been looking at these for a while. As others have posted, I have high ceilings so would need the reducers. Can anyone that has used the reducers tell me what they did to cover the opening the reducers leave? Screw fix just say to go to your diy store to get something. But if I get top end doors etc, I'd prefer to have something that matches the style of them and not some bodged together solution. Do screw fix provide actual facias to cover the reducers that actually match the design you choose?

@mods Please expire the deal as the offer seems to have ended.

Worth a look. Thanks

Made to measure....not fitted

I agree

Fitted is when someone comes round and does the work for you. They cost £1000's. If you are measuring it all yourself and then doing the work yourself then these are made to measure.

This offer is back on, I've placed an order for 3 sliding doors to fit a 2.6m x 2.4m wall to wall opening, £350 delivered. Bargain.

Great find - I missed the last offer.

I have at least 4 rooms that need these.

i might order some doors....

Have been looking at sliding wardrobe doors for a couple of weeks now. I do not believe these represent good value for money. Sure the discount looks good but discounts on inflated prices are a nonsence. I've found much better value from Amazon and BedroomsPlus. Sure you have to take stock sizes but using infill panels is easy and the savings huge. The actual screwfix discounted doors here are the same full price on both the suggested outlets.

If you're in London. Try a company called multilines in wembley. They fitted two rooms, about 16 doors in total plus three draw sets and mirrors for £4.5k. Bargin imo.
