Not sure - but does the RAC cover cars over 10 years old ?

Nope, just took AA cover for £34.99 with £10 Quidco cash back for basic cover.

Please note this deal is not strictly correct, RAC advertise this deal at £33.99 regularly so not 50% off?

As far as I know the 10 year old limit applies only to "vehicle based" membership
(these offers are all "personal based" ie any car)

Full breakdown cover terms & conditions here
- bottom corner of page 9 mentions the 10 year limit for vehicle based memberships

Not really a deal IMO - Its been this way for a long time now.

If they ever sold the breakdown cover for the "full RRP" everyone would flock to AA/Green flag.

This is exactly the same as a DFS Sale

I got this last week & my car is over 10 yrs old. When I went through quidco earlier last week it cost alot more so i was surprised to then get an email offering me this deal. It's cheaper than the AA's deal.

Just bought roadside, recovery and at home cover for a 58 plate focus.

£35.45 with 15.75% cashback through Topcashback with Startrescue.co.uk

Have used AA, Greenflag, GreenInsuranceco, but never called any of them. If you look after your car you are only needing a tow off the motorway if something drastic happens.

Greenflag offered me a deal of £78.44 to stay with them with this level of cover including my no claims discount. I told them to get stuffed.

New customer, cashback deals are the way to go.......... unless you drive a banger that you know is going to break down.

Defiantly hot, personal cover for £29

hot no doubt

Thanks OP, been waiting for a driver-based non-cashback offer for a while for my 17 year old Prelude.

Hot.
I went thru quidco and then went to link
it tracked at 25.
Let's hope

Let's hope it gets paid...

£35.45 from Startrescue seems to be a very good deal but beware it has many restrictions and therefore cheap for a reason. Have a look at here

Just taken this offer
Its 50% off joint off of a joint policy as well
Heat added

went through topcashback, bought half price nation wide recovery for for £55 and TCB of £37, so costed only £18. awesome, heat added

I tend to just stick with Auto Aid now, £39 a year for the Wife and I, recovery and homestart, and no mucking about with cashback etc every year switching between AA and RAC which is what I did previously.

Only downside is you pay the mechanic and then claim the money back after, but they get great reviews.

I had received a 'come back to us' offer through the post a few weeks ago, but couldn't find it today. So I used your 50% deal to negotiate a slightly better discount with them over the phone. Didn't go through TCB, as the online discounted price there was significantly higher than this deal. Cheers for posting OP.

They didnt mention this to me when I downgraded to vehicle membership, should i check?

Last time I used RAC they took over 4 hours to turn up, looked at the exhaust hanging off and told me I'd need to arrange full recovery and drove off without even bothering to tie it up or fix it.. was a 3rd party contracted tow car, not a proper RAC vehicle. My complaint went unanswered.. needless to say I didn't renew and went AA. Have had to use AA twice this year and they've been spot on both times.. get what you pay for I reckon.

I know not everyone will have a bad experience but it annoyed me as much as to let people know about it.

Remember you have 14 days to cancel and get a full refund if cover hasn't been used, maybe useful in some circumstances .

Just renewed my RAC cover with Tesco Clubcard.
Roadside + Recovery = £32.

I have an 02 reg with specific car cover and they covered it with no questions. So no 10 year limit imo.

i went with autonational for this option

£63 for 2 cars or just £49 for one.

came to use last week, within the hour got car going broke down again (little clip came off) came to us again within 2 hours (told them i at home no rush), then came back again with break down truck to tow us to local garage, superb service, great comms.

Yes they will cover cars over 10 years but you must choose a product more than Roadside Rescue if your car is more than 10 years old.

I too have Autoaid. Highly recommend them. Had for about 10 years and called them out about 5 times including an accident recovery that was too far from home for my insurance to recover. Always arrived in reasonable time and great service. Autoaid arrange for the mechanic/recovery, you have to pay there and then on credit/debit card or cash and claim back via autoaid, but it is a really simple procedure and always refunded promptly without quibble. And £39 per year for myself and wife whatever car we're in (incl 13 yo Honda Accord) roadside, recovery, homestart all in

Used to use Autoaid and they were brilliant - same crews came out as with most of the brokers - only reason I don't use them now is I don't have a credit card or lump sum of cash.

Got RAC cover transferred to me from a car I got in the family - renewal thru at £141... I had to laugh.. haggled on phone down to £80 with monthly payments for onward travel option above.. and the car is a 2002 model.

Which is OK for me because I want to pay monthly.

I don't like this practice of whacking renewal prices and hoping people don't notice.. after reading reviews I also hope I don't need to call them out...

Anyway.. if you've got plastic.. Autoaid everytime. You get repaid within days.. and it's sort of a members club thing (I got a driving magazine sent out every quarter!) run by some very decent folk.

AA service is much better.

Had both over the years and found they provide an equal service.

I had a couple of call outs in my old car with the RAC, it was 11 years old at the time so you should have no problem with assistance should anything happen

Another vote for AutoAid, have not had to call them out yet but when it comes to value for money they are unbeatable.

I didn't.

My RAC cover expired yesterday so just went through Quidco and did three cars in our house for home, recovery and roadside for £170 - theres £70 cashback so £100 cost, been doing this the last couple of years with no problem.

Just to note on the 10 year rule, this only applies to vehicle based cover if you only want roadside, once you add recovery and home its not an issue (one of our three cars just turned 10).

I had to call out the RAC a few months back and the service was amazing, even when they outsourced the flatbed to take my car home.

Can't comment on other breakdown providers as I've never used them, but after my experience with RAC I'm keen to stay with them.

Why not, thanks

Thanks. Great price and excellent timing, as The AA had done their normal thing and doubled the price again.

Banned

I also used Autoaid. Great service, it takes around 2 weeks to reimburse the money. Home breakdown also included, but limited to £65.

Great deal! Bought. Lets not forget people this is not a services comparison website, just is the deal a good offer? At 50% off that's a yes, whatever your opinion of the RRP!

Just had this deal via letter Re-join now:
0800 404 8872
Quote ref RCDRL50-L50

With all the add-ons your require, it works out to be normal price in the end.

I went with GEM Motoring Assist in the end

Mine is 34 years old and the RAC are regular visitors to my house and work ;-)
