Coming down in price rapidly now but bear in mind this is the old LG plasma I believe (new one being the 50PC55 - costs about £100 more).

Still, £650 for a 50" plasma was stuff of dreams a year ago.

This is true the tv is about 2-3 years old if im not mistaken and was first sold at £1399 maybe more. As you also say £650 for a 50in plasma a year or so ago i would have laughed.

Great deal for a 50" was very tempted until you add to basket all you get is "due to the high demand is now out of stock"

LOL - yep 98p is a definite sign they want you to shop for something else. Disgraceful really. Maybe posters should check stock levels before posting deals.

Lol, whats wrong with 98p? I didn't realise it was the Beast's number on here! (Someone explain!)

As far as I know,if a price at PCW ends in "98p" it usually means that they don't have the item in stock. I think it is a con/marketing ploy to get you on the sight, you can't find what you originally went there for,so you look for something else...I have seen a lot of HOT DEALS at companies who use these tactics. Give your money to the poor, become a FREEGAN!

stores use price codes to communicate with staff which product models need to be sold as a priority to make way for new stock.

If the price ends with 7, the item is usually clearance stock.
If the price ends in an 8 it means the model has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

Always try and get a discount on both of these items, as they are willing to get rid of them cheaply for new shelf space.

Also if you happen to be buying clothes, check out the laundry labels (the ones with the temp, drying information etc) shops often mark the laundry label to let staff know that it's going to be lowered in price. If you see this on a full price item, then check back, because it's likely to be reduced.

Sometimes items ending in a 6 can be a sign of sales about to take place.

Shops do this to make it easier for staff when it comes to labeling up with sale stickers etc

ah boo - I would have gone for this.
