And also a huge rip off.. Love how with their half price boiler sale it was still double the price of a competitor including installation

We had British Gas around and they were excellent. They didn't bother with the boring pipe soldering just the flux. The 22mm feed pipe fell out whilst I was chasing the wall. Excellent stuff. Almost blew the f* wall off. They gave me a generous £50 compensation to cut a hole in the ceiling a pay a real gas fitter to put it right. Great company.....of cowboys

I had British gas around, their price was horrendous, Help-link was cheaper and with a 10 year Guarantee and not 5 as Brit gas was, i couldn't see the point in paying 30% more for half the guarantee. were all different i suppose

How much was the total you paid? Did it Inc a full system flush and mag filter install?

Without knowing what you ended up paying, what you had installed and where you live, it's hard to judge if this was a good deal or not.

Hi Thanks for sharing, but the total cost would be useful as some companies simply inflate the install cost to accommodate the "discount"

Exactly, its not about me, its about the £500 off deal and most houses will probably be different so you cant compare, i was merely posting the 500 off for people wanting a new boiler

Yeah I suppose they are dearer but I've been stung before- just thought their engineers were brilliant. People can do what they want with their money I was just passing on my experience

Worst company to rely on . Big marketing but when you need them , they will never be there.

I'm amazed nobody mentions local qualified self-employed fitters? We found a plumber by word of mouth, he's done a lot of work for us, the only downside is he didn't always get to us at 8am - messaged to say he'd be a bit late. Turned out he would prioritise his customers that had a problem, and would at least pop and check it out first thing. Usually could either fix it or order the parts and arrange when he could. Excellent service. Usually not paying for expensive advertising campaigns and depots either.

There's tons of options out there, but having had a number of quotes for a new boiler recently, how can we really judge if this is a deal or not? Our quotes varied by £900 and we didn't even bother with British Gas, else that would probably have been a lot higher. Most of these "discounts" are usually fake anyway, as they've inflated other prices to compensate, but if some prices were quoted I think we'd all be able to make an informed decision.

Use these guys and your house will be as chilly as this deal is.....£500 discount isnt a lot really, especially when you see what the "original" price is, no doubt its the quoted "RRP"....love how the OP is defending the deal though, ballsy :-)

Someone put the heating on.........this deal is cold

I’ve found British Gas engineers hit and (moreso) miss. All they seem to do when it comes to a boiler service is look at their Toughbook Laptop and stick a probe in flue port – if all the readings are correct and its burning fine then that’s it. Our local independent spends at least 45 mins on a service, opening up the combustion chamber and various other metal compartments and is rather vigorous with a large metal handled pipe cleaner – he also half the price of home care.

One of the more unnerving experiences with British Gas was with our open Gas fire – It had a cracked burner, while it burned fine and never set off our C02 alarm it was obviously kaput and was noticeable just by looking at the fire without taking it apart – at this point it was largely decorational anyway and never used. Yet it was serviced by BG, taken apart and cleaned 3 times by them before an engineer finally picked up on the issue on the forth service and condemmed it, the other three hadn’t noticed a burner cracked completely in half.

@rsl1uk how does this compare price-wise to boxt.co.uk ? Just had one installed by them and it came out a fair bit cheaper for me, curious how it compares for you too.
