I love Marmite but not many people will ever eat 500g of it before the use-by date. So cheap is meaningless, I guess.

No vote.

It doesn't have a "Use By" date, it has a "best before" date, completely different.

Ive had a big jar for over 2 years and still tastes yummy. Voted Hot

Voted hot! We use loads of this in our house

Amazing price, I usually by the 600g catering tub from Costco for £5 but this is much better value.

How much do you put on? A 600g tub would be used up in my house within a few weeks and apart from the little bit my daughter has, I'm the only person who eats it.

I am the only one who eats it and have never gone past the BB date - I think cherrypicker may underestimate the marmite habit a lot of people have!

Thankyou OP I was down to my last kg of marmite! ..time for a top up!

THE best spread EVER!!!
Cheers to all Marmite lovers.....

Pff 500g jar lasts me max 2 months and I have 2 on the go at once - one at home and one at work - nice deal

I prefer Bovril.

THE best spread EVER!!!

I thought that was my ex Girlfriend...! Love her or hate her, she spread too easy...

I once had marmite that was 13 years old,I didn't know at the time, but it tasted exactly the same, lovely.
Whether it's the high salt content that preserved it I don't know, but it really was still yummy !!

Oh sweet Jesus I love Marmite. Spread some on the bread before you make cheese on toast - heavenly.

It's a well known (fake) fact that the ancient egyptians preserved their mummies in marmite. it never goes off. It also never gets the chance when you spread it like jam.

Voted HOT for those who love the stuff!

I don't, but enjoy! Seems like alot are really into this! I tried it once when I was in the US (had a English rommie), and didn't quite liked it. Moved here eventually and tried it again, still didn't like it! It's just me. :-)

Mmmmmmmm, marmiittteeeeeeeee........

I use it in cooking as well as spread on toast..........ok ok ryvitas at the moment due to dieting, but it tastes damn good on them and ANYTHING that can make them taste good gets a thumbs up in my book!

Heat added, cheers OP

I'd ignore the BB date anyway but the problem with a jar this size could be the thread getting so sticky it becomes very difficult to get the lid off!

That said, it's a good deal, so I'll be buying some...!

Was bought up on vegimite but might buy this for a try, been about 3 years since I've had it!

Marmite is so full of salt it'll last for eons. Off to get my supply now...

Is this the biggest jar?

I stand corrected.

My big jar of Marmite is also currently out of "best before" date by 6 months and I am still eating it. Lemme vote hot

This Is a great deal. I love It. Also because I'm the only one In the house that likes It, I get to have the full jar.
I was tempted once to try Kraft Yegimite, the Australian rubbish. Now that does taste horrible.

I once won a lifetimes supply of Marmite. One Jar oO

Speak for yourself sweetheart. I'd eat 500g on one slice of toast if it would fit on it.

Scorching!

I don't eat a lot of Marmite but if it's not in the cupboard I feel 'nervous'.

The tough part is that anyone who stays over always makes a bee-line for it at breakfast, I probably only consume about one third of any jar I have.

Speak for yourself, 500 grams would be consumed in my household within a month!

Me too 500g jar lasted me just over a month.Love the stuff. Why is it so sticky when theres no sugar in it?Weird

Love it. And, according to the media, it may prevent MRSA. See Telegraph article.

You just run the jar under the hot tap, solves the problem of stickiness.

In Lidl, the 250g Marmite costs £2 so this is a bargain!

My current jar found open in the back of the cupboard has a BBD of Jan 2007 still eating it with no ill effects

I live in Saudi (god knows why i still check this site all day everyday) and a jar this size over here would cost about £18 so this has made me homesick.

Thanks.

Now im depressed.

this stuff tastes great on nipples.... or is that butter... errr butter and marmite on nipples!! ... toast! I'm salivating... BYE

marmite is very high in salt (12%)

bread is around 1% salt
