Fresh, not frozen. 1kg total. Not much else to say really, but it beats Lidl's deal earlier in the month which was popular here (1kg for £5.99).

Good deal not sure if u have a meat at the factory but I got 1kg of chicken breast for 3.99 yest

Been using Farmfoods twice a week for years (often two different ones) and never seen them with fresh chicken breast. Will ask them when I'm in again in a couple of days. Hope it is something they are getting in as £5/kilo is pretty much unbeatable for fresh breast meat. For now this seems like a 1 store deal, but well done for getting it, especially at that price.

'Fresh' and 'Farmfoods'. Never thought I'd hear those two words in the same sentence.

good deal, but I just cooked some asda frozen 500 g chicken breast fillets £2.00 a pack very tasty

How much is 1kg fresh chicken breast from a butchers?

LIDL has 1KG for £6.99 at normal price

Local butcher prices are completely subjective so it's unfair to vote cold based on your local prices (not accusing you hoz786, but I notice it comes up a lot in meat posts).
Most butchers don't even buy from local farms... the meat is brought in wholesale. It more than likely comes from the same suppliers that supermarket meat comes from. Remember, butchers are more cash-strapped and have higher (proportional) overheads than huge companies like Asda/Tesco so they can't afford to go local. Mine charges around £2 per fillet. Hell, he won't even get in red or yellow peppers because they cost too much!

Must be a new thing

Yes this is a new line amongst other fresh raw meats that we are now stocking nationwide. All stores have now received a fresh meats double door chiller and these are the deals inside it:

1x 6 pack (340g) cumberland pork sausages £1.00

1x 6 pack (340g) lincolnshire pork sausages £1.00

300g (10 rashers) unsmoked back bacon £1.50

300g (10 rashers) smoked back bacon £1.50

454g fresh beef mince 2for£4.00(£2.50 each) [908g for £4.00]

500g fresh chicken breast fillets 2for£5.00(2.95 each) [1Kg for £5.00]

454g fresh lean beef mince 2for£5.00(2.95 each) [908g for £5.00]

660g pork loin steaks 2for£6.00(3.50 each) [1.32Kg for £6.00]

454g fresh diced beef 2for£6.00(3.50 each) [908g for £6.00]

Other fresh produce is also available in the same chiller which includes a bag of leafy salad, a pack of big round tomatoes and a box of cherry tomatoes all for 69p each or 2for£1.20. And last but not least a cucumber for 50p.

Not bad but still cheaper at my local butchers

Halal?

Halal? Horrendous stuff, should be banned!!

Personally, I prefer my fillets on the chicken running around free range enjoying a nice happy life!!

I bet there seagull steaks?Would always go to a butcher and pay a bit more for chicken but for those on a budget im sure there fit for human consumption,as long as ricky tomlinson didnt prepare them

Does not compute.

First you rant about how horrendous Halal meat is and then you talk about free range chicken enjoying a nice happy life whilst this is a deal on 99.9% unlikely to be free range. Halal meat can be free range too, just slaughtered differently to what joe public is accustomed to (and lets be honest, most shoppers these days don't even know what a whole chicken with feather, legs and head looks before it's nicely cut and film wrapped.)

/rant

Anyway, heat given, will visit my local Farmfoods to see if it's here yet. For the money and my budget, that's a good deal.

good price for high street shops .. But will echo some posters on here ,try your local butcher/Halal /Asian shops as they often come in much cheaper .The local Indian in west newcastle is £4.50ish kg and if you are prepared to stump up for 10kg its about £3.50 per kg (fresh not frozen) been as low as £29 for 10kg and £36 for 10Kg norm is about £34 though.

You can mix and match on the offers around the store as along as its on the same offer.

I get most of my chicken from Farmfoods - I usually buy frozen, because it's the cheapest I've found (1kg of frozen chicken breast fillets £3.33p (under their 3 for £10 offer)).

I also buy breaded chicken from there, again because it's the cheapest around (12 breaded chicken fillets for £4 (33p each)).

Their chicken tastes fine, maybe not as rich or succulent as the premium brands, but certainly more than adequate for slow cooked or pan fried meals. The breaded chicken fillets are also available in hot and spicy, southern fried or charcoal grilled (unbreaded) - great with chips and onion rings.

So what am I trying to say? I'm saying that you shouldn't be put off the meat just because it's from Farmfoods - it still comes from chickens, it still tastes good and at the prices they offer, represents excellent value for money.

Just pointing out, as so many people on HUKD egg threads get upset if the eggs aren't free range.

This chicken meat is NOT free range.

Obviously your decision whether that is important for you....

Good post op

My local(s) must be just behind the times, but will definitely be keeping a close eye open when they do eventually get them. Thanks for the heads up. Heat was added earlier, and I wasn't doubting your purchase, just hoping it wasn't a 1 store deal, like many Tesco 'bargains' that get posted daily. This is one I shall be getting when my store catches up with other parts of the country.

I recently bought some fresh breasts from a meat seller at a market. £5/kg, and they have been very tasty so far (better than the frozen supermarket stuff that I am used to). Also the size of them... I can't imagine the freakish size of the chickens producing bit of meats this large. They put Lolo Ferrari to shame...

(I know my pop culture reference is 10 years out of date, but it's all I got)

Good deal for fresh, I nipped into a Farmfoods earlier and they had sold out but they were there. The butchers here are £2 a fillet which is way more expensive than the supermarkets. We usually use frozen or portions/whole chicken instead as it works out cheaper.

As an aside I got cauliflowers, broccoli, carrots, onions as 2 for £1.20 which is an awesome deal. I know Tesco have them 2 for £1 just now as a special offer but these were much bigger. Worth a purchase in my opinion.

Halal is just the method of slaughter, chickens are still able to roam...

You clearly did not get my rant. When I said I prefer my fillets on the chicken running around free range, that's exactly what I ment!!! I don't eat chickens!!!!!

Good price, if only it wasn't from crapfoods

I was buying the frozen chicken breasts from Farmfoods but I got put off after I cooked one and it tasted really salty.

I now buy from a local butcher £5.25 a kilo and the taste and size of the breasts are much better.

How much of the 1kg of chicken is actually just gonna be water???

If it has added water it needs to say. So no added water.
Also I took one of them out of the freezer to defrost today and nope... none of the water/juice you get from pre-frozen ones...
