Fresh, not frozen. 1kg total. Not much else to say really, but it beats Lidl's deal earlier in the month which was popular here (1kg for £5.99).

and also I pay 5 for about 1.5kg breast fresh from my local butchers, and thats not even special price, thats normal in Walsall.
Most butchers don't even buy from local farms... the meat is brought in wholesale. It more than likely comes from the same suppliers that supermarket meat comes from. Remember, butchers are more cash-strapped and have higher (proportional) overheads than huge companies like Asda/Tesco so they can't afford to go local. Mine charges around £2 per fillet. Hell, he won't even get in red or yellow peppers because they cost too much!
To the people doubting FarmFoods having fresh ones:
Must be a new thing
1x 6 pack (340g) cumberland pork sausages £1.00
1x 6 pack (340g) lincolnshire pork sausages £1.00
300g (10 rashers) unsmoked back bacon £1.50
300g (10 rashers) smoked back bacon £1.50
454g fresh beef mince 2for£4.00(£2.50 each) [908g for £4.00]
500g fresh chicken breast fillets 2for£5.00(2.95 each) [1Kg for £5.00]
454g fresh lean beef mince 2for£5.00(2.95 each) [908g for £5.00]
660g pork loin steaks 2for£6.00(3.50 each) [1.32Kg for £6.00]
454g fresh diced beef 2for£6.00(3.50 each) [908g for £6.00]
Other fresh produce is also available in the same chiller which includes a bag of leafy salad, a pack of big round tomatoes and a box of cherry tomatoes all for 69p each or 2for£1.20. And last but not least a cucumber for 50p.
Halal? Horrendous stuff, should be banned!!
Personally, I prefer my fillets on the chicken running around free range enjoying a nice happy life!!
Does not compute.
First you rant about how horrendous Halal meat is and then you talk about free range chicken enjoying a nice happy life whilst this is a deal on 99.9% unlikely to be free range. Halal meat can be free range too, just slaughtered differently to what joe public is accustomed to (and lets be honest, most shoppers these days don't even know what a whole chicken with feather, legs and head looks before it's nicely cut and film wrapped.)
/rant
Anyway, heat given, will visit my local Farmfoods to see if it's here yet. For the money and my budget, that's a good deal.
I also buy breaded chicken from there, again because it's the cheapest around (12 breaded chicken fillets for £4 (33p each)).
Their chicken tastes fine, maybe not as rich or succulent as the premium brands, but certainly more than adequate for slow cooked or pan fried meals. The breaded chicken fillets are also available in hot and spicy, southern fried or charcoal grilled (unbreaded) - great with chips and onion rings.
So what am I trying to say? I'm saying that you shouldn't be put off the meat just because it's from Farmfoods - it still comes from chickens, it still tastes good and at the prices they offer, represents excellent value for money.
This chicken meat is NOT free range.
Obviously your decision whether that is important for you....
My local(s) must be just behind the times, but will definitely be keeping a close eye open when they do eventually get them. Thanks for the heads up. Heat was added earlier, and I wasn't doubting your purchase, just hoping it wasn't a 1 store deal, like many Tesco 'bargains' that get posted daily. This is one I shall be getting when my store catches up with other parts of the country.
(I know my pop culture reference is 10 years out of date, but it's all I got)
As an aside I got cauliflowers, broccoli, carrots, onions as 2 for £1.20 which is an awesome deal. I know Tesco have them 2 for £1 just now as a special offer but these were much bigger. Worth a purchase in my opinion.
Halal is just the method of slaughter, chickens are still able to roam...
You clearly did not get my rant. When I said I prefer my fillets on the chicken running around free range, that's exactly what I ment!!! I don't eat chickens!!!!!
I now buy from a local butcher £5.25 a kilo and the taste and size of the breasts are much better.
If it has added water it needs to say. So no added water.
Also I took one of them out of the freezer to defrost today and nope... none of the water/juice you get from pre-frozen ones...
