I thought this website was Hot UK Deals not Best UK Deals. Its not very constructive to vote something cold just because you happen to be in a position to get the same thing cheaper. This post could well be useful to anyone who is near a Tesco but not Asda. I often think people on this site go out of their way to vote things cold. In many cases, like this one, it is not very helpful.
Did you post your Asda find on HUKD?

Is it store specific? Very good deal as this is the coffee I drink.

nonetheless, since when has 500g of coffee been £16!

Hot. Black gold 200g is £4 at Asda. This is my favorite instant coffee at the moment and stocking up at this price.

.... can't see it on Tesco website so I assume it's store specific.

Nescafe Gold Blend Coffee 500G
£14.90 (£2.98/100g

So must be store specific as this is the online price for me...

I was told buy a woman who buys coffee is pathetically small amounts that it 'goes off' I reckon it's a load of rubbish but does anybody have any experience with old unused coffee?

A bargain at Tesco's?

Proper ground filter or espresso coffee will go off but Instant(freeze-dried) coffee will last fine for months personally.

Gold blends tastes great when the jar is first opened..... but the taste soon deteriorates after.
I find this with all instant coffee.

I was told buy a woman

Who told you that - bad advice.

Get yourself a girlfriend - it's cheaper.

There is actually a way of getting Gold Blend even cheaper than £4 for 200g but it involves Tesco, having a £5 off £40 coupon and doing a price comparison against Asda.

Buy 6 jars of Gold Blend in Tesco for £38.88
Buy a couple of bars of chocolate to bring you up over the £40 threshold
Use your £5 off coupon so transaction comes down to £35 (£33.88 for the coffee if you ignore the other £1.12 you had to spend)
Use Tesco Price Check which for 6 jars will give you a Just The Difference of £14.88
Net cost per jar is £3.17

I thought about submitting a deal for this but as it requires you to already have the £5 off coupon and the fact you have to go to the trouble of submitting a price check and printing out the coupon, I figured it would be voted cold. This was working as of yesterday's price check email (Monday receipt date).

Thats the aroma which gets injected before the glass jar is sealed. Thats why its smells at first when first opened.

Coffee lasts months as well just sitting there

So original price was £3.20 for 100g, now £1.60 for 100g?

Normal price for me.

Drink a cup of tea instead!

Ends up pretty minging, i used to get coffee in bulk, didnt even know it had expiry date but when it goes off it goes all lumpy and horrible. should still last a year + though before that happens.

Been to my local extra store. Nope - still full price.

Reading through the posts it seems nobody other than the OP has got any. Who on earth has voted this up to 230+ when nobody OTHER THAN THE OP has got any?

It just beggars belief that people click away giving heat without knowing if it's nationwide or having actually been to their local store and buying some!

I just despair of this site sometimes.

Your right and if i'm hanging around on HUK its clear I don't have the cash to throw at top of the range one. Thanks for all the personal coffee experience all.

Can confirm this was the price in Prescot Extra store yesterday. Good find. Thanks

Is that a fact? I never realised that's why it always smells good when you first open it.
