Could you explain why? (also the link you provided is dud).

Any idea if you can use the drive out of this or is it one of those silly soldered on usb jobbies?

I believe pro skater meant this one

I would rather get the 640GB 2.5" deal at ebuyer (£45) and get an enclosure for a couple of quid off the bay

The seagate is nice but nigh on twice the price so this - as far as I'm concerned - is a corking buy. I would be interested to hear why the other is better though.

Hot! But not bus powered? Thats the reason I'll skip it.

For the same price theres a bus powered one on Scan for those interested: scan.co.uk/pro…698
(go via the Today Only page to get it £1 cheaper)

Eh? where did you see that rubbish?

This IS bus powered

Nothing in the product description says its bus powered. Maybe its the task description that is rubbish?

I agree that the description didn't explicitly mention power-supply - but it did say "portable" and 2.5" drives generally are USB-powered.
Online product descriptions are often quite unreliable; but it's better to research online a little or ask a question rather than risk jumping to the wrong conclusion.

i can confirm that these are usb powered. it says so on the box:

I think there will always be deals that are a fair bit better for a little more but depends where you draw the line, a good price for what you get in my opinion, heat added.

You should put "Maxell" in the title.

Ordered one last week, arrived today, it is indeed bus powered, and only one USB unlike other portable drives.
It is as fast as advertised. Very small and the build quality feels good too, pretty solid.
I'm pleased with this one.

Ordered ! Cheers OP !!!

might be a silly question but could this also be used to plug into a DVD player with a USB for AVI's etc.?
also used the XBOX 360 ???

Just tried it in my xbox 360 and it works, I assume it would work in a DVD player too.

thanks TimS i was hoping it would work.
i just have a feeling it may not in a DVD player because i thought they had a limit of 16gb or something?

price just gone up to £49.99
