...I'm interested because I'm looking at getting a setup - although stuck wondering if I should get all network cameras, get a low powered pc and get a capture card, etc, etc - or something like this deal.

this deal was £299 this time last year for a 4 channel cctv unit & 4 cameras. I don't think it was as much as 500gb either

Ah, yes - it's a BNC connector or a phone with a BNC converter, I believe.
