Apologies:thumbsup:

the samsung is £59.89 and the western digital is £63.34 from ebuyer, both far superior to maxtor imo cant understand why this was originally £69.99 probably reduced it because noone was buying them

Yep, spot on.............it was going well until the name "Maxtor" entered the discussion!

The better deal is the Western Digital one you refer to........you also have the option to buy a Nero and PowerDVD bundle for £4.50.

I have 2 x 320gb Western Digital drives, one of them hosts footage from my CCTV system and is thus writing 24/7.........it's been faultless for the two years I've had it, my system will have done more read/writes to that drive than the average pc user will do in ten years.

I can't comment on this particular drive, but have had an internal 250Gb Maxtor drive in my comp for over 2 years which has been a real workhorse (reading & writing Gb's of files daily), and has thankfully never had anything go wrong with it.

(touch wood!)

Seagate bought Maxtor and products are covered with seagate warranty ergo the old hype of Maxtor being inferior goes out the window. You are actually buying a rebranded seagate

I have 80GB Maxtor disk which failed after 2.7 years with very light use. Seagate replaced it with a brand new one of the same model disk as it had 3 year warranty. I would agree that western digital is slightly better than maxtor.

i didnt mention seagate in the comparisons though, samsung and WD are still superior to maxtor and seagate and hitachi

No but you did mention maxtor who as I pointed out are now owned by seagate.

Read the reviews, youll see the Samsung comes out ahead of all of them - plus its the same price
