So these are a discontinued product, after 10 (probably less) re-writes they fail.

Verbatim have a 2 year warranty with all discontinued products.

If you buy enough discs to fulfill your bluray writing needs for 2 years then these will be replaced for free!

Just keep the receipt 'cause Verbatim want photos. Maplin do replace them but only under 28 days from purchase.

Why do you say they fail after 10 or less rewrites?

It's a lot of dosh for a single disc, even if it is cheaper than the norm

Paid £10 for 5 verbatim bdre double side 50gb shipped from Japan recently. Delivered within a week.

That's cheap, where from?

It was from ebay but the seller I bought it from has closed their ebay shop.

Have a look, there are plenty of other sellers from Japan selling 5 for around £11 to £13. They are Verbatim but normally taken from a large spool and sent in paper disc protectors.

Just be aware of the customs duty limits. Most sellers will mark it as a gift.

VAT

You pay VAT on goods sent from non-European Union (EU) countries and EU special territories (eg the Canary Islands) if they’re:

gifts worth more than £36
other goods worth more than £15
alcohol, tobacco products and fragrances (eg perfume, eau de toilette and cologne) - of any value

Because I've used 5 of them before (at £13 each). They failed after nearly 10 writes and maplins replaced them. After 28 days I was told to go to Verbatim directly

And after they fail you get a replacement of course, £2 is a bargain though!

I don't know why you are posting a hot deal if you think the product is poor quality? Poor quality is not a bargain at any price.

Anyway, in the interests of suggesting a better deal, 5x BD-RE 25GB (125GB total) for £5.99 on Amazon.

I burn a lot of (true/uncompressed) bluray films - none of this compressed .mkv t0rrent crap.

I've bought 3 lots of these over time
amazon.co.uk/gp/…s00

They come from Japan which takes a week or two but every disc has been reliable. I've never had any import duty to pay.

I use imgburn to burn the BDMV/Certificate folders (or .ISO for my 3D films). BUT - Never for the first burn because imgburn normally fails the format process so always use Nero 11 to do the first write which also formats (very quickly too) the disc. Failing the format process normally then renders the disc unrecognisable in bluray players no matter how many successful writes you put on it( Re-zeroing and erase/smart erase does not help). It will still be useful as a data disc in a pc though.

You can get a five pack of dual layer Verbatim 6x delivered on eBay for £19.99, they are not the cheaper LTH type either.
