50GB Free Box.com Cloud Storage for 1yr if you own an LG Android Device (Inc. Google Nexus 4 & 5)

Found 14th May 2013
EDIT - 09/06 - note - looks like LG have changed the terms of the promo...

Any new Box user will receive a free 50GB account for 1 year when they download and log into Box for Android on any LG G-series device. Existing Box users will receive the upgrade for 1 year when they log into Box for Android on their G-series device.

The offer is valid through 3/31/16.

Users who have already redeemed a 50GB offer will not receive additional storage.

If you own an LG Android device (phone such as the Nexus 4 or 5, or a tablet) simply install the Box.com app from the Google Play Store and sign up via the App on your LG Android device. Instead of getting the normal 5gb of space you'll get 50gb that you can use from anywhere.

You need to login on your LG Android after registering to 'activate' the 50GB, otherwise you'll just see 5GB when you sign in.

Back to this deal...

Once you've signed up on your LG Android device AND logged in on the device, login online via Box.com and check you have 50GB showing on the right hand side of the webpage...

If you see 5GB it's probably because you haven't logged in on your LG Android device first.

OR check via the app itself via the 'Settings' menu....

awesome. heat added.

Wish I had an LG device now.

It looks like you can sign up multiple times via the same device.

ash. the only reason to own an LG, 50gb free storage.

Cold. Who in their right mind would:
1. Use Box, its ridiculoudly limited.
2. Own an LG mobile, regardless of OS.

So this deal is for about 5 people.

Original Poster

Plenty of Nexus 4 owners alone, safe to say more than 5 :-)

I quite like Box.... What are the limits you're referring to AdzyUK? I'm aware of the 250mb file limit, but I think that's reasonable.

Original Poster

This should also work to upgrade existing Box.com accounts to 50gb. Just need to login in the app on the LG Android device.

What a daft comment, Box.com with 50gb free storage is very useful

I already have 50 GB coz about 2 years a go they had the exact offer for SE phones.

Does that mean it will get upgraded to 100 GB?

In short, no, sorry. It's answered in the FAQ that this deal links to:

If you use them right, you don't need to pay for any file storage. I currently use:
50GB Box - all my photos backed up here
25GB DropBox - all my current work/files that i sync reguarly
20,000 Google Music Tracks - all my music
15GB Google Drive - any overspill

That basically covers everything except movies which tbh are too big to want to keep online so I just use an external HD - Job Done

Sounds like a good approach. I'm gutted I missed out on SkyDrive early on when I believe it was 25GB, however really getting to like Box.com now, especially for photos (backup and sharing). Also using Google Play Music - really impressed with it.

nice....50gb ready to go! heat added

Nexus 4. Duh.

I am a member of box, they had a 50gb lifetime storage deal on a few months back. It is not as good as dropbox but it is very hand especially as you can use collaboration.

This means my 2 email addresses and my wife's 2 an be used together so 200gb free storage

Thanks! recently bought a Nexus4, for someone who would never use thebox. So I installed the app and got the 50GB then set it up on my iPhone5 and now have a massive amount of space to store all my pictures and videos

Awesome, thanks! Heat.

Good deal, thanks for the post.

max file size is 100mb! pricks. dropbox might be only 5gb but at least there is no limit.

still can't complain - 50gb free for life.

Original Poster

Max file size is 250mb.

Coming up as 5gb for me.

Have you logged into the app on your LG before checking on your PC?

Once you are signed in on the app you can also check your usage there and see that you have 50GB of space, go via the 'Settings' menu....

anyone not have Dropbox who wants to register free so you can get an extra 500mb on top of the 2gb to start? PM you email to me.

I can't get the 50gb when I've done it on the Nexus 7. Is the offer still running?

Original Poster

Nexus 7 isn't made by LG so doesn't qualify, it's an LG promotion. Sorry.

this is great thanks. and the nexus 4 is a cracking bit of kit.

Worked for me, thanks

I just stumbled on this, and I can confirm it still works :-)

Original Poster

Good stuff - yeah it's available until the end of the year.

UPDATE - Now available until 30/09/2014

Mods - Can this be unexpired please, the offer is now valid through to 30/09/2014. Thanks.

Great deal, having trouble with file sizes and stuff though.

Original Poster

File size limit is 250MB - I tend to compress and split down any larger files I have so I can still upload them (in parts).

Banned

mine is 16 GB.
do I need it cos I can't be bothered but if like something to back up photographs

Original Poster

Sorry, what is 16gb?

What phone do you have?

easy peasy - a good time to archive all pics totalling 40 odd GB.

Original Poster

Yup, the drag and drop folder creation in Chrome is great.

Worth a reminder too that multiple sign ups on a single device do seem to work.
