51 Free movies to download from Lovefilm : X-men, Lethal Weapon, the last samurai

Lovefilm has a free download movie section and there are 51 movies in there. Not the latest ones arguably, but still would be useful if you don't know what to do at 2am in the morning. I haven't tried the downloads myself though.

In order to download this film, you must first register your details with LOVEFiLM.

.........and download their software

Unfortunately LoveFilm still don't recognise the existence of the Apple Macintosh computer, which is particularly surprising as many of the films available on their website were composited and edited on Macs!

Have voted hot though as I would love to be able to take advantage of this offer and think its a great deal for all PC users who can access it.

LoveFilm: where's the Love? how about sorting it out so us Mac users can play! The future of internet broadcasts does not revolve around Windows Media Player alone.

Register details, is ok...ish I guess. Downloading software, what does that mean? do you need the software to download it, or to play the movies? What format are the movies? quality?

What I mean, is there anyone who have tried it?, and is it worth doing?

Quality is DVD, I reckon WMV9 format..

I can only assume there'll be some form of DRM on these movies otherwise it'd be asking for trouble ^^
It's worth taking a look at though...nice find OP

I must admit, I like the idea of downloading films, I dislike having to watch them on my 17" PC screen though. I have a telly and surround system along with a 360 and an Xbox 1 (running XBMC) which are both capable of viewing videos without the need to go and move a desktop PC under the telly, then hook it up with some poor quality S-video or composite cables.

You should have your rant with Apple or the copyright holders mate, as currently the only DRM available on the Apple platform is via ITunes software (IIRC) and they will not allow any third parties to use it. So you can either get your downloads with content protection from Itunes or nowhere.

Actually there is a section in the FAQ on the site explaining that too -
Support for the Apple Mac platform:

* The closed DRM system used by Apple is not currently available to licence by third parties and there is no other Mac-compatible DRM solution which meets the protection requirements of content owners. Unfortunately, we are therefore unable to offer content to Mac users at this stage.

Can I put these into Itunes to play on my ipod?

The size is 1,6 GB on highest quality, so it can not be DVD quality. Is it just working on a short time basis? (As it comes up as free for rent?) and can you just download it and watch it on your computer?

Viking:viking:

these are only download to rent. It will download onto thier software if you are a paying member of Love film and you have a certain amount of time to watch it. you are not able to copy or burn them unless you buy the download for around £10

Thankyou for the info, makes it much less interesting for me, as we cant sit 3 people around the computerscreen and watch. Some good movies though, so to bad.

Viking:viking:

so has anyone actually used this software and downloaded any of these films?

wow normal movies are expensive aren't they. 20 quid for a download copy of 300!! :-o

Its a complete con not worth the effort or money

they are giving out free rentals for certain movies to test their new software for future rentals. Soon they are going to be renting for instant watchable films, not postal.

You are beta testing for them.
