Rubbish . Specs and warranty are more important than branding . I find people like you buying obsolete electronic items because they are buying the brand and have no idea about technology. There are so many branded electronic items like Kodak , Hyundai , Electrolux , Polaroid , Toshiba which are just stickers . Voted hot

Are Finlux Albanian by any chance?

It was originally a Finnish company and was owned by Nokia at one point. These days it's one of Vestel's brands for TVs, like Hitatchi, JVC, Toshiba and so on.

So you would feel totally comfortable using life saving medication …So you would feel totally comfortable using life saving medication manufactured by some fly by night laboratory no one has ever heard of rather than stuff made by one of the global pharmaceutical giants if you were terminally ill?

That's a silly comparison. The priorities for medicine are completely different than for a luxury item like a TV.

Besides, Vestel is hardly a fly by night operation. They're the second biggest selling TV company in Europe, manufacturing one in five TVs sold here:

No, but this confirms what we all thought - your much talked about 4K TV is a 'supermarket' one.

The absolute top priority for a TV is it's picture quality.

By a strange twist of fate, the better branded ones tend to have a better picture.

Not 100% but one of the 2016 55" models has a real 4k up scaling engine and and the others do not, so will have a digdug around to see if this model has it.

Very good offer and only 1/3 of the cheapest 4k tv. I have had a Finlux for over 3 years now, very happy with it

You are aware Finlux is another Vestel fake brand? Vestel are not well known for their leading technology or reliability though it's certainly cheap. Extended warranty always worth having with a Vestel tv.

Why's it a silly comparison?

Far too many people that possess rather rabid opinions about 'premium' brand names on here which is their prerogative.

Though I would put it out there that when you're one of those types who is a proud purchaser of counterfeit and/or low budget low reputation goods because you're that anti premium branded big reputation products then surely that should stretch to everything and anything you'll ever want/need

It's almost as if those folk who go around labelling others 'brand snobs' become that very thing themselves when it suits hmmmmm I call that hypocrisy of the highest order.

Erm it was a tongue in cheek question because of that poster's username.

Perhaps if you Google the word 'shqiptar' it might make a bit more sense.

I bought two of these 49" Finlux last year. I went back to my 2011 1080HD Sony which is now back on the Lounge wall. I might consider 4k again when more content is available and more bandwidth out of my 15 meg connection

The sound is almost non existent and just talking on the news was distorted. My mother went for a hearing test because she thought her hearing was going. She prefers to watch the non widescreen lcd shes had for donkeys years.

The other I "loaned" to a tenant when her TV got damaged by a worker (me).

Thanks for the link. Some blasts from the past there... Sanyo, Orion, Matsui, ITT, Ferguson, AKAI, Aiwa

I've had goods from all of these in the past and thought they were no longer trading

What nonsense again. This is not life saving medicine . Second all prescription medicine in this country has be approved by NHS/ medical council before it can be dispensed by chemist or doctor. Only if it was food supplement , it can be sold with out licence.

Wind your neck in Che please, all you NHS warriors defending that bottomless money pit get terribly tedious.

Though you do realise there's a world full of meds out there that aren't approved by the NHS and BMA don't you? It might be one of those you or someone you care about needs, just saying.

But thank you for demonstrating the hypocritical scratchiness I was referring to, you all for branded quality when it suits and/or someone else is paying but not willing to fork out for it yourself, I'm ever so grateful for your priceless contribution
I have a Finlux TV. It isn't great. Slow, laggy, the Smart software is very basic. I definitely wouldn't buy another. It's cheap for a reason. I now have an LG and its a million times better in every way. Please don't buy this cheap rubbish, you will regret it.

Disagree - many of the 'brands' you're talking about are built in the same factories as the likes of these TVs. Specifications, components and the platform software are crucial.
Hot deal.

Lol behave
Groupon, seriously? Why are they still allowed here? (yes, commission, I understand...)

They must be the worst company for customers (who by the way are the shops), and the worst company for buyers, too.
A lot of tv for little price for those of us who don't have £1000+ to spend on a tv.
I have a 49” Finlux 4K tv that I purchased from Amazon on a deal posted on here. It cost £230 which is an amazing price. I have to say that I’ve been very impressed with it so far! Yer, it’s not a LG or Sony! But for the price you can’t go far wrong
I have an awesome finlux 3D TV. BUT only issue is that the response rate is quite slow for gaming. So there is a delay between me moving my PS4 controller joystick and seeing the corresponding movement on screen. Idk if all of them have this issue, but something to double check before buying.
Ah, the 'Finlux' quality...
Far too much snobbery goes on on this site (intact all forum based sites tbf). My personal experience is this...
I had an LG 3D TV, *upgraded to a 50" Polaroid TV for £200 (thanks to this site) Picture quality of all non 3d content was on a par. Build quality of the LG was better, but who cares when you don't touch the TV once it's in place. Price difference was over £400, and there was no way a £400 picture difference. I have subsequently purchased a Samsung MU6700. The picture quality and build quality is much crisper than the Polaroid, it's brighter and handles motion a little better. BUT it's £300 more than what I paid for the Polaroid. In my opinion there isn't a £300 difference in picture quality. My point is, those on a budget, in most cases will be very happy with this, or a Polaroid or a vestel based TV for the money they're paying. If you have the spare cash and want a higher spec TV then I would suggest doing it, but only marginally.
