Using AI technology, the LG 55SM8600PLA maximises your viewing pleasure.

Nano Cell technology – everyone gets the best seat in the house
Using uniformly sized display particles, this LG 55 inch TV gives enhanced colour accuracy and the ability to produce wider viewing angles with less colour distortion. This means that the colour accuracy remains virtually unchanged over a 60-degree viewing angle. Finally, everyone in the room can enjoy the highest quality images.

Local Dimming for enhanced contrast

Making the most of its Nano Cell tech, the 55SM8600PLA features Local Dimming. This gives enhanced contrast, with the ability to precisely control the darkest and lightest sections of the images. What this means for you is greater realism and most natural images possible from an LED screen.

Improved processor at its heart
With the a7 Gen 2 processor at its heart, this 55 inch LG TV is not only faster at processing but brings about a whole host of new features. Intelligent Artificial Intelligence (AI) benefits both picture and sound for the clearest images and audio yet.

AI Picture
Artificial Intelligence comes of age with LG’s Deep Learning AI Picture. This clever system compares the signal with a table of content and automatically adjusts the picture quality to the most accurate image possible. Using an ambient light sensor, the system adjusts screen brightness and other criteria (with HDR signals). The result is greater realism with a cleaner and sharper picture.

AI Sound
If you fancy a more cinematic sound from your TV, then LG’s AI Sound should be music to your ears. Using AI algorithms, AI Sound up-mixes two-channel audio to virtual 5.1 sound – giving a much more immersive sound stage. The a7 Gen 2 processor also optimises the sound based on content type – giving clearer vocals with news and dramas. The powerful AI can also take account of your room’s acoustics and layout and adjusts to give the cleanest sound possible.

Dolby Atmos compatible sound
With a Dolby Atmos processor built-in this LG 55” TV decodes Atmos sound tracks - giving you the potential for an even more immersive sound. Although we’d recommend a soundbar/base for the fullest sound, the built-in 20 watt audio system delivers punchy sound.

Upgrade to wireless surround sound with WiSA*
WiSA stands for Wireless Speaker & Audio. The system wirelessly streams sound up to 24bit 96kHz, 8-channels and includes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. WiSA is flexible as you decide which speakers you want and where you want them – they don’t even have to be from LG. Simply look for WiSA supported speakers and decide how you’d like your audio to sound. *Separate dongle purchase required.

Now featuring Apple AirPlay 2 and Apple TV app
With support for Apple AirPlay 2, this LG 55 inch TV lets you effortlessly stream from your Apple device. Even better, support for Apple’s TV app (Due 2020) means you can enjoy Apple’s 4K HDR content – featuring top quality Dolby Atmos and Vision. Support for Apple’s HomeKit makes this LG highly compatible with the whole Apple system.

Smart voice control – ThinQ AI integrates with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa*
Voice control has got much smarter with this LG TV. Press the dedicated voice mic button and ThinQ AI decides if the TV’s software or Google Assistant handles the command. Google Assistant is capable of changing the channel and input via voice command. It also integrates with services such as Google Photos and Google Maps to make your TV an even greater source of entertainment. As an alternative, direct voice control via Amazon Alexa is also set to be an option from mid/late 2019. *Alexa built-in upgrade due later in the year.

Let AI bring you closer to the action, with the LG 55SM8600PLA.

Been looking at this TV all week. Went in store to look at it last night. Nearly pulled the trigger at £649 but the off angle viewing was terrible (don’t know if it was just the set up in store). The Soundbar for £149 extra is a great deal too.
Rather buy it from very for £579,

🔥 🔥
IPS panel = lower contrast & black will look greyish in dark room(night)
Dont care what anyone says even with local dimming you get bloom and black light bleed, and i personally find LG to be the worst culprit for this on LCD, they focus everything on OLED development, which in its self is now stagnant..

Bring on Micro LED
Great price for the TV and the soundbar. Order from John Lewis with a price match
Look at the reviews for this tv on ao though, they are all very good, with people saying viewing angles are great, are people too picky on here, isn't this a great tv for the money? Anyone have it who could comment?
I'm going crazy not knowing which 55 tv to buy around this price range...

I have the 49sm9000pla, which is very similar to this. The viewing angle is superb, which is what ips panels are best for.

True, I didn't buy this for deep blacks, but then again I have it in a bright room and mostly watch content that isn't overly dark (light horror movies etc).

The sound is very good for TV speakers too, but I still use a sound bar. I got mine for £650 at Curry's, which I thought was reasonable.

For the money it has got a decent motion rate and I don't know how similar this model is to the 9000 that I own, but I am impressed.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with the viewing angle as it has an IPS screen. Are you sure you were looking at the right model. I went into Currys just over a month ago to buy this TV but it was online only. I view the 8200 but didn't like the way the TV wobbles like jelly on the wing stand. It wouldn't have put me off buying it but I bought the Sony XF9005 instead which I am highly delighted with.
The post is a but confusing with two prices shown and the lower price is in red which if you don't read it properly looks like you are getting the TV and soundbar for £585.

Not sure of difference but the LG55SM8200PLA 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV in curry with £75 off so £524.99, although has been cheaper on here at £499.

Advertised as £649.99 at Currys and out of stock. Cheapest price on here when doing a search is £585. Are you sure you wasn't getting mixed up with the 49" which was £499 on here quite recently.

The 49" is currently £599.00 at Currys.

Heat added because even though I decided not to buy this model it is a good TV for the money.
You can get this TV for £519 price beat from richer sounds. Good price.

It took me ages to get my last LG looking decent. I had to Google for some ideas on settings and referring to ratings.com they had to tweak this model as well. My song just looked picture perfect out of the box.
Is this HDMI 2.1?
has all the features I would like for next gen consoles inc 100-120 HZ but conflicting 2.0 v 2.1 claims on this tv, the 8500 is HDMI 2.1 I believe
any more info would be welcome
