Newsgroup Direct are doing 550GB block account for $20, which should last the light to moderate user for a while.
Yes it is highwinds but if you get in quick, you should have no problems, and if you don't know what i'm talking about then tough, cos the first rule about usenet......

deal ends 04/10/12

haha good write up HEAT

Thanks. Isn't it 500Gb, not 550Gb?

Aha, shows 550Gb once signed up

Thats not too bad actually, I paid $50 for 1Tb the other day from astraweb. I'm on demonnews for my main downloading, and have the astraweb as a backup.

This is a great deal, cheers. Once you use Newsgroups you'll wonder how you ever put up with Torrents. Maxes out my connection every single time.

Plus the software tools are amazing, sick beard and couch potato rock!

Good price!

Anyone used these before? I usually use Newshosting.

all the dmca takedowns and you post it on here hmmmm first rule.

I used to use this. but for some reason my torrents are always maxed out at 20mbits/sec now :). hot deal!

heated for the description alone lol

great thanks

Once i buy this, what else do i need? Can someone explain please? I am new to newsgroups. Thanks

A news reader software like Grabit

shemes.com/ind…oad

And a place to search and download NZBs like

binsearch.info/

Tried to sign up, got proxy error, not sure if I'm signed up or not.... :-(

Personally I pay $30 for unlimited plus VPN at giga and tbh have never once had a problem. VPN is also extremly useful for getting access to newz.... you know that website. Anyway, still a decent deal! voted hot.

merb, you need a newsreader such as grabbit (free) or my fav newsleecher, you also need an access site but those can easily be found by googling (this is where you download the .nzb file) and you need access to usenet ofcourse. If you need more help, PM me as its a topic that as the OP said, rule 1 about fight club, you never talk about fight club,.,... same as usenet.

I don't know what you're all talking about

Can you add this onto an existing account?

Great deal; I'm still using the last block I bought so this will do fine as a top up

Yep, can add no matter how many GBs you have on a previous account.

Binsearch is probably not best suited for noobs (no offence)
Sign up to nzbmatrix, it's free but nzbs are limited to 20 days or spend £7 to sign up for 10 years

I've been a loyal Easynews member for a good 10 years now. Fantastic and easy to use interface.

Thanks

what don't people understand about the first rule of usenet...?! - but thanks 500GB bought. been paying $10p/m to newshosting for last few years. this'll do nicely and ill start eating into this once my months out. But come on... The first rule!!

Good deal, prefer astraweb but this is cheap, does it include ssl and what ports? Because VM have been throttling a lot of the ports and iirc all non-ssl usenet traffic...
Dont bother with grabit its ****, use sabnzbd+ its free and in active development...

want to vote cold. 'cos you shouldn't be talking about this. can't have it getting too hot in here. but it's a great deal however I won't be voting either way for the above reason. the first rule...!!

pay for this or just use private trackers?

how fast download speed say on my 8meg line?
i usually get 700k p/s on my 8meg bb. for torrents.

Thanks op added another block to my account

giga that i use, give VPN (gets around throttling) and is also SSL with 50 connections for $30 if thats better for you. Im also on virgin and access to newz... was blocked but its open to me using VPN :-)

the difference between this and torrents, is that you will get the full bandwidth your connection is capable of

anybody used this mob, and how reliable are they. i have been with giganews, but they are pricey. but they are ultra reliable

do you think having more connections is an advantage. i only use 8 on sabnzbd and i get the full bandwidth of my connection. whats the advantage of having 50

I had 20 before i upgraded and to me it does make it worth while because I have 50mb broadband (soon to be 100mb). I was getting abotu 20mb download on 20 connections, now i get around 48.9mb on 50 connections with SSL so yeah i would say so. Plus, the VPN and SSL gives you that added protection.

If you max out your speed limit that you're on then you wont see much of a difference, but if you go up to 50 or more, you will notice as each connection can only take a certain amount, I think of about 1mb.

Also, GN retnetion is over 1400 days which is extremly handy! I dont know about any other but I know thats one of, if not the highest in the usenet world.

yeah i thought that would be the case. only worth while if you have super speed broadband. unfortunately virgin aint available in the area i have moved too.

You could ask virgin when they plan to come to your area, and they might give you better idea. Also, BT fiber or waht ever its called is being rolled out nationwide too so that might be another option. :-) but I personally prefer the diamond package because of the VPN as i use it daily as i love newzbin and need that to access it. :-)

Cheers just bought a block!

im in a small village outside paisley. cant see virgin coming any time soon, since they bypassed it while laying cables originally. or should i say ntl did

Can someone tell me why anyone would use Newsgroups over Warez? Which is cheaper and max speeds?

Giganews does seem quite pricey, Astra on ssl port in the 500s seems to get me full 50meg. Also astras retention and completeness is just as good as giga imo! But thanks for the tip :-)

Im not sure about giga or your setup but i give each of my pcs just 5 connections and each of the pcs can individually hit about 50meg!

Thanks

Nope, it's just like a PAYG phone, only expires when you use all the blocks.

Thanks.

Bought 1tb from these guys last year sometime for $50 and had relatively few problems (only older stuff as you say op) so 550gb for 20 is very cheap
