There seem to be a few bargains in the Dell Outlet, as they have a free voucher in the basket at the end of the sales process worth £95 off the systems. Most of the cheaper systems (with 2GB RAM) are Dell Inspiron 6400s in the Dell Outlet. Maybe some members could help me and others decide on the following - as all specifications are the same, with Vista Premium and 1yr warranty, the main differences are below::

System A) System Price £598.00 Delivered
Inspiron 6400 Core 2 Duo Processor T5600 (1.83 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB
Memory: 2048MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
Video: 256MB Video Graphic Card G72
NoteBook Screen: 15.4
6-cell , 53 WHr Li-Ion primary battery

System B) System Price £606.00 Delivered
Core 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.0 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB
Memory: 2048MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
Video: 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 graphics card
NoteBook Screen: 15.4 UltraSharp Wide Screen WXGA+ (1440x900) TrueLife Display

System C) System Price £619 Delivered

Inspiron 6400 Core 2 Duo Processor T5500 (1.66 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB
Memory: 2048MB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
Video: 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 graphics card
6-cell , 53 WHr Li-Ion primary battery

Also do the Inspiron 6400s come with 15.4 inch widescreen WXGA as standard, and is the screen of decent quality, or should I pay for the upgrade to UltraSharp Wide Screen WXGA+ (1440x900) TrueLife Display?

Does it make a significant difference if the Processor is 667MHz but the RAM is only 533Mhz?

I'm going to be using it for the occasional presentation, and some website design but nothing too exerting. Maybe watching dvds etc.

So how does the 256MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1400 graphics card compare with the 256MB Video Graphic Card G72?

Thanks

Well, there's quite a few votes, and many of the systems are getting added to baskets at Dell. If anyone could answer my questions that would be appreciated.

should get very informed answers regarding dells.

I'm assuming that the G72 graphics is the GfORCE 7200....if you go to one of the Dell deals started by MIKET you'll find a link to his blog which gives a laptop graphics card comparison chart.

Trulife screens are a matter of preference..they are glossy and reflect the light so can be a pain in a room where the sun is shining through the window...I have one and sometimes I have to draw the blinds so I can see the screen....however the graphics are enhanced and this may be your preference. ...and yes widescreen WXGA are standard on 6400s.

If I was buying I'd go for system B ..the 7200 CPU is far superior to the other core 2s..usually a £90 or so additional cost.

The G72 is the 7300 chip. The X1400 is the better chip (but not by much).
