XXL Week continues at Lidl, i bought these a few days back but noticed they just got them back in again at my local store, really good deal as they are far cheaper than any of the big 4 supermarkets and good quality too.

same price at tesco

Good price and great for making a basic curry sauce in bulk, for not a lot, and then freeze it.

Using the Curry Secret recipe.

This is the cheapest in Tesco, 5KG of these would work out at £2.92 so Lidl is nearly a pound cheaper

Nope same price, and have been buying them for a few months: Tescos keep very well as well, not sure about these. Still a good deal though.

Yep, onion flavoured in a 5KG bag.

Excellent deal, not quote as good as the Asda deal of a £1 a while a go, Tesco is crap...

Go down a local market, can get a big bag for a quid.

I swear onions are about 40p a kilo loose; for the amount you need to buy together this isn't exactly a great deal...

Go into any asian cash& carry they nearly all have 10kg sacks for 1.99....

if you pop into a local independent shop you will find onions at a much cheaper price. only problem is theyes might not keep for along. In the wholesale fruit and veg market 9kg bags of dutch onions are going for a pound. english and polish onions are much cheaper.

My local Turkish shop sells the 5kg bags for £1.69 and that's their normal price 365 days a year.

Local shops do them cheaper all year round but the quality varies and they don't keep as long.

You can get better value and much better quality from your local farm shop. I pay £2.49 for 10kg.

I was in lidl yesterday and all the onions i saw in packs were manky but reasonably priced..if they weren't manky i'd of bought some.

We just buy from Ethnic shops - usually £1.29 for 5kg all year round.

Heartburn Hotel.

oh dear! this'll put the french onion man out of buisness for a week!
