5w40 Synthetic oil at Asda for £14

It was made by Texaco. Not sure who it is now, might still be Texaco. Could well be Castrol these days as they make Tesco's and Halfords lube.

that's very cheap for a VW 505.01 spec oil

Got a big one from Tesco for £10 5w/40w fully synthetic

Last I checked, Comma made Halfords oils.

Comma make for Halfords unless they have changed recently ,most supermarket stuff is either Comma or Carlube,nothing wrong with it but you can get Shell Helix or other big names from Eurocarparts regularly for £18-20.....personally I buy a few when I see a good offer on either Eurocarparts or Amazon (I have 5 cars atm) ...the only cheaper oil I've ever bought was Halfords and it was fine,but then it wouldn't be in any of my cars more than 5000 miles.

Fuchs/Silkolene is brilliant oil...
I get it from Opie Oils or Amazon when it's on offer....5w-30 Titan fully synthetic was £18 delivered a few weeks back.

I went to ASDA Queensferry today and looked at this oil. It is NOT to C3 spec as stated above. Where did you get all those specs from? I can’t find them anywhere?

Just checked, it definitely states C3 on the listing of all the specs on the back. No need to use those capitols. Check again.
If 'your' bottle doesn't state C3 we're talking different oils and cannot be compared.
By the way just bought another one last weekend, also stated C3.

This is a photo of the oil £14. I honestly can’t see the C3 spec. I took the photo myself. The next price up £15 was C3. Thanks, it did end up saving me about 50%.

You have a different oil, that much is clear. My label is very different to yours.

Different specs, different lay out, different text in places.

You have RN specs, I don't. . Mine has Porsche and Ford specs, yours doesn't.

All I can say.
