6 British Medium Free Range Eggs for 99p at Lidl

Not a special offer, but the normal price - still a Hot Deal, though, by comparison with most other supermarkets.

I'm sure I used to pay about £1.50 for 30 eggs when I was a student....

but still, a decent price as I don't have a time machine I guess.

I get my eggs from Lidl, but not these stupid free range gismo thing that certain people buy into... All alot of rubbish this free range, its a frigin chicken for god sake, do u think they care about us lol....

10 eggs @ lidl for 97p a think it was last week... non FREE RANGE extra 1cm to walk about

All the stores seem to have packs of 6 free range eggs for 99p or £1 seen them in both Asda and Morrisons in the last couple of days.

Good response to the Morrisons offer... Fair play!

I guess it depends on the free range chickens you get the eggs from. Proper farm hens outside will probably have a better diet than your supermarket free range chickens. I get mine from a local farm - £1.20 for a dozen ... the hens are happily wandering around outside. I think it could pay financially and in quality of egg to have a look locally.

Depends whether you care about the taste and the welfare of the chickens that lay the eggs. Personally I think this is a great deal and hopefully will force other supermarkets to lower the price of their free range eggs.

Pretty good, but I get 6 large free range ones for £1 at Iceland.

Nice attempt at trolling but even if it IS only 1cm more to walk around in, that's still better than buying non-free range.
Good price (same as my local butchers in fact) so voted hot.
Won't be buying any though as getting my own chcikens this weekend!:-D

Thing is, the free range eggs actually do taste better.
Used to buy the Lidl cheapies myself.

Exactly, lowering the prices of free range will only help force out unnecessary battery farming. When we can, we buy free range from a farm, failing that supermarket choices are the only option.

I buy mine from a local farm too.
Not much good for a city person though.

Fair point. We get ours locally at 85p for 6 (free range - you can talk to the hens if you feel like it!) but Lidl's probably more convenient for most people.

Farm eggs aren't always what they seem, though. There's another place just down the road where people think they're buying free range eggs - but actually the eggs are delivered by lorry after dark!

Not sure how a pound for 6 eggs is a deal when both Tesco and ASDA will sell you 30 for under 3 quid.

Simple. These are free range, but the ones you mention aren't. :whistling:

not everyone has a large family to feed. I only buy for myself and 6 eggs sometimes is even too much before it expires. They should have eggs loose available to buy, (containers provided separately or something)

i'm with you there

Don't worry they always keep for much longer than their use by dates, I've kept them for over a month out of date and they are still good

Bought some myself when I was in Lidl last night, good deal!

6 large free range eggs for a quid at iceland

hey, kill 2 birds with one stone, so to speak, get a couple of chickens for your back garden - not only will you get an egg per bird every day for years, it is also the best way to get rid of your kitchen scraps and waste food!

A good free range egg will have a strong (not watery ) yoke which is a deep red and will go into the frying pan without breaking.

Well that's what I read and I agree.

Cheap non free range are always watery and the yoke doesn't have much colour and usualy breaks when put in the frying pan.

The taste of a good free range is so much better than the cheapo watery supermarket eggs.

And a happy hen will lay a good healthy egg.

Oh and I also read don't buy extra large eggs as it's bad for the hens and they strain laying them......poor little chickys.

YUCK......I will never understand why people want to eat an embryo or something that looks like snot and and smells like farts when boiled!!

I personally get my eggs from local farm just round the corner from me... 12 Eggs so big you cant close the box for £1.20!

My local veg shop does them for 79p.
