Not before my mobile phone melts my brain, or my deodorant gives me cancer. I try to take everything I read with a pinch of salt...... Now there is a contentious issue! :-D

Precisely - live for now - don't worry what might kill you, you're going to die one day anyway.

To balance...hyponatremia. Ok - perhaps an extreme, but the way salt has been demonised it could be a picture of our future. Whilst I am all for the reduction of salt in processed foods etc people should also be educated as to the dietry requirement and benefits of sodium. Look at the way people treat fat now? You need it to survive! I guess until society understands moderation, either way its a losing battle.

I was joking but...
We do need fat...we don't need to be morbidly obese...there is a difference and it's about time the government did something about it, I support the drive on obesity 100%.
Before I get nasty comments...I was morbidly obese 3 years ago.

Most foods and all low sugar drinks, including cordial, have it now. If you go to the U.S. you won't find it in anything, because it's banned. At the end of the day why ban it if it's safe. I think the UK could learn a lesson here. It would be interesting to know what kind of back hander the
uk government get for not banning this stuff. Maybe a bit like the handouts from BAT for not banning cigarettes :?

Sorry - thats just wrong. Aspartame is not banned in the USA. It was licensed for consumption in 1981. It is commonly used,. and US diet coke / zero contains it along with many many other products. It carries the warning PHENYLKETONURICS: ASPARTAME CONTAINS PHENYLALANINE for those that cannot properly metabolise the substance.

Im not saying that scientific studies for/against are wrong - just that there is no ban in the US.
