Odd comments. Strong beer is great, as long as you don’t hammer them back.

Belgian beer is the best!
2/3 of them are 10.5%?!! Dads across the UK are going to be hammered...

These aren't intended for binge drinking, which a "respectable" father should not do anyway

4 of them are 10.5% One is 9% and the Blue is 7.2%. Why are Dads going to be hammered, you didn't need to drink more than one or two.
Someone got me these. Not drinking 10% beer, ridiculous

Perfectly normal...

looks like you never seen Shandy drinks

I've seen shandy drinks (with lemonade, not OJ) and with cheap beers, not "gourmet" ones like the ones above.
Are you also the type to put coke in your expensive premium whisky to make it "last longer"?
Not a personal attack, just wondering...
Any idea what this will cost in Scotland?
i bought these last time, one I wasn't too keen on, but the others were really nice, the really strong ones, just one is enough on a quiet night in

If you're going to put juice in it to make it taste nicer you'd be better off with vodka, much better value.

WTF
Had these the last couple of times they had them in - great value for reasonable Belgian beer.

These are delicious.
I bought these a couple of years ago and wasn't that keen.
I guess they are worth a try but personally I find once beer goes above a certain percentage and certainly the 10% ones they are just a bit hard to drink and almost have a wine like taste which I don't go for in my beer!
you'd be better off getting you father a dozen cans of Galereux from the Lidl.
I love how beer is instantly related to fathrs day lol.

LOL I have had my friends say almost the same thing when recommending these beers also. (tastes like stale yak pi.. was the exact comment)...

It takes all sorts i guess which is why choice is a good thing. I feel the same way about pretty much any wine (which is stronger alcohol wise than these beers as it happens).

I am no expert either .... which is why i like these kind of packs..... I can pretty much know that for my tastes 1 will be horrible, a few will be ok enough but not my thing and hopefully a couple of absolute winners which i can then keep an eye out for.
A couple of years ago Lidl was doing these around fathers day at £7.99 a pack. I got a couple of packs for fathers day myself then (a couple more i picked up for myself).
Gulden Draak & Piraat are nice beers and worthy of the price tag alone however the Bornem's are not as good but still drinkable.
Gotta love a Gulden Draak. Discovered that one in lovely Ghent.

Was it the Lidl near the centre of Ghent that you went to, or the one on the ring-road?

Lidl don't stock these in Belgium,
you can find the beers like these (all 6 are Van Steenberge brewery) in some pubs (mainly depends on region) and most supermarkets and nightshops (depending on region again)

Being a Belgium beer the idea is only to have 1 or 2 at a maximum in a sitting.

Reviews of these beers seem to be generally positive.

As a Belgian beer fan I find these beers to be overall pretty good. Even the worst of the bunch is still decent I shall definitely be buying a box or three.

No I mean I discovered that particular beer in Ghent!
The golden dragon logo is based on the dragon on top of the Ghent Belfry.

the worlds highest rated beers are high in alcohol - eg

Picked up a pack of these last year and liked them so much I popped into my local Lidl today to get another couple of packs - none in store - manager reckoned they should be in next week....
Got a pack from Lidl Surrey Quays - they only had 1 box of 4 out on display - it wasn't even opened !
These beers are as good as you'll find in the UK from Belgium, and at a fabulous price. Got 8 packs (two container boxes of four packs). Will keep for months to be quaffed over the next 12. Since I no longer can 'do' a weekend break to Bruges (ah, De Biertempel!) or get De Dolle Brouwers fabulous beers these are definately the next best thing.
Good deal, but as mentioned in an earlier post ,when it comes to Belgium Beer, you can't beat beerwulf.com ,for choice, price and free delivery (min12bottles)
Love Belgian beers, golden draak is brilliant, piraat is ok and the Bornem I’ve not seen except in these sets. My local specialist charges over £4 a bottle for 4 beers in this set. Just been and picked up 3 boxes
