A key aspect of the Trove is that the games are entirely DRM free- and for these six games, they don't exist on Steam in any case.

Yes, but it doesn't even seem to add them to your Humble library. You download them now or tough luck. I'm on a laptop with a small HD, I don't have space for games to sit around because this one site hasn't integrated them with their library. Meh.

I think that this is deliberate - the Trove isn't intended as a route to permanent ownership

Well, you can keep it for as long as you want, it's just that Humble aren't taking responsibility for long-term storage of the relevant files for non-sbscribers.
