6-in-1 Screwdriver
SEL said reduced from £1 to 25p, but scanned at 1p at the checkout.
There were 2 different barcodes on them, the ones with the barcode: 5051140732301 scans at 1p, the other scanned at 25p.
The 25p one has a Sticky Barcode Label over the packaging.
Went back and rooted through the box and found one more with the 1p barcode on it, so took it through self checkout, and again, 1p - bargain!

This was at Tesco Extra in Horsham.

You used your clubcard even though it's 99p shy of the minimum £1? :P

Lol, the machine asked me to scan my clubcard, so i thought why not!
Haven't shopped in tesco for a while, so thought I'd let them know i'm still around :-D

OMG I paid, like, 24p for one of these in Sainsburys today - and I have already opened it! :x

:giggle:

just too expensive for me... wouldnt want to risk it!

thats just ridiculous

Damn, these screwdriver prices have gone up insane amounts during this credit cruch, thanks for this, and you sly man using your Clubcard haha.

Heat+Rep added.

Good work, that man!

Ripoff! Voted cold

lol just saw your sainsburys post - you have had a fun day op going round the supermarkets!!

Is there a sale on DIY stuff at Tescos?

Now all you need is a cheap screw...

A lot of retail stores put prices of stock to be destroyed or removed from sale to 1p to signal to staff to destroy or remove it as no regular product would ever be sold at 1p - If there were sticker barcodes over the barcodes i would guess that the manager decided to make a bit of money off them and put them through on a new code covering the barcode so that head office wouldnt know he was selling them when he should have been disposing of them - unfortunatley for him since a few were not stickered over the barcode ourselves and his head office now know of his cunning plan lol!

What if you were a member of staff with 10% discount? Surely they would have to round down to 0p. :w00t:

I'm not disputing that, but why would they destroy it. Surely if they just put the price down to 1p, they would fly out the store, they would get a (very small) amount of money out of it and they get a reputation for having crazy deals, possibly increasing customer numbers.

Do they come in other colours or is it just yellow? Quite fancy a pink fluffy one - not sure I'd pay that much for something when I don't really like the colour!!

Roflmao :-D

Well, no, because anything at .5 of something is usually rounded up.

It depends upon the reason for the move, sometimes the manufacturer will ask for it to be removed if there is a common flaw,

Generally though it is because people will purchase the one at a very small price if they had gone in for an expensive one, take waterstones as an example, Many people go in after a book but not really knowing what they want so if they see something for a very small price they will most likely buy that, rather than a full price book so it is more profitable to destroy the old stock rather than sell it off cheap, Also whilst on the area of books when a new edition is printed the publisher oftern pays large chain stores to destroy the current stock rather than have them sell the current edition off cheap before the new edition comes out so as not to harm then sales of the new edition.

They do ask them to return the covers though for proof of how many have been destroyed, thats why a lot of books say somewhere inside the first two or three pages with the publishers info "not to be sold without its cover" or similar.

Good deal! I got one of these for my birthday plus 10 dvd r's (reduced to 10p). I kid you not! My pressies are always make of 'hot deals' !

Just because 1 person bought some rubbish screwdrivers for 1p doesn't make it hot ! It's a random 1 off !
