No sh1zzy Sherlock.

Are these tents ok? Anyone have any experience with them?

In stock in Ipswich, Colchester, bury St Edmunds and Felixstowe

all same price?

Lichfield Tents are very good. I have had my 8 man Anaconda tent since university days 20 years ago and this summer still took the kids out with it.

Saying that, that was Lichfield tents 20 yrs ago. It may be made in China rubbish like everything else now.
Also I would not be thinking of using them sleeping bags for anything else but the warmest summers.

Six man? Six sardines more like. However, you'd struggle to get either on their own for this price, so have some heat!

If you hate camping but absolutely have to do it, get an Outwell tent. They're expensive, but you should never underestimate the feeling you get from being able to get dressed STANDING UP inside your tent.

Are those two statements linked?

I'm not sure what kind of currency Skeletons are but no, this is for £79.99. It quite clearly says it in the OP.

Are you a pirate?

ArrRRrrr

Voted hot by accident!!

This is cheap because it's sn outdated tent. Only 2000mm HH, the norm now is 4000mm.

Seperate groundsheet... didn't dven know they still made these!!

Yes, it's cheap but what's it worth in the middle if the night when the rain is dripping through the roof and the winds howling between yhe groundsheet?!?

I bought this last summer for around £70, for the tent only. Now wish I had bought one with the groundsheet sewn in. Many people prefer to go camping during good weather like myself so 2000mm rating isn't an issue for me. Not a bad tent however certainly not a great tent. Over-inflated RRP like everything out of Argos.

If your only camping casually this wouldn't be a bad buy. There are no instructions supplied which I found a bit surprising however poles are colour-coded.

cold, local offer only, not available for home delivery too...oO

It'll be the winter of discount tent soon

Yes they were VERY good, but not so good now, similar to how karrimor were once very good...

Don't waste your money on this muck. Seriously, if you fancy camping in the UK with unpredictable weather and temperatures then invest in a decent make. Something like Outwell or Vango. It will be much dearer but at least it can withstand more than a breeze and won't leak like a sieve!

So many people get put off by camping because they try it using rubbish gear. The difference between a budget basement tent and a properly constructed Outwell/Kampa or some Vango tents is night and day. Chuck the notoriously interchangeable British weather into the mix and it's no wonder people get put off camping.

Couldn't agree more, though Gelert make very good tents now too and get excellent reviews. I recently bought the Horizon 8 Supreme.

2000 is fine - under 1200 is a concern

they do make tenst with separate ground sheets - those mega expensive heated teepees have separate groundsheets - very warm though

very true, I bought a vango - previous seasons in a sale 6 years ago for a 5 man tunnel tent that you could stand up in. Paid £115 at less than half price - had a fitted ground sheet and wife was amazed how warm it was with half decent sleeping bags - im not keen on camping as I prefer my luxuries, lol

Thanks NK74

I have a reservation at Edinburgh North Bridge if anyone wants it? Reply on thread, I'll check tomorrow (I'm on my phone so I don't know if anyone quotes me.)

Gelert are one of the better budget brands but my last one (Horizon 6, about 4 years old) blew down. The fibre glass poles perished and became brittle over time and started snapping. Replacing the sections is a really fiddly job but having replaced those sections that did fail half of the other ones started going when the wind picked up. I don't think that's a Gelert thing though; I suspect it's a fibre glass pole issue.

If I were you in a couple of years I'd pick up a complete replacement set of poles and treat them as disposables. It put me off though, so I switched to a more robust (and much bigger) Kampa Croyde 8. Expensive tent but really worth it for the amount of use we're getting from it.

Thanks for your informative post. I have read about the problems with split poles due to them being made of fibre glass.
Thats probably explains why most of the second hand ones on ebay have been repaired with duck tape!

When the times comes I will definitely be looking at that Kampa.
