6 New Lego Minecraft Sets 3 for 2 At Argos From Wednesday

Found 2nd Nov 2014
Just giving people the heads up..

These 6 new Lego Minecraft sets (only released yesterday) aren't the cheapest of toys but they're sure to be a sellout on the run up to Christmas and are at the top of my kids Santa lists. They are available to reserve in store now at Argos for the same price as every other store but on Wednesday Argos starts their 3 for 2 on all toys. I doubt anywhere else will have a deal on these sets before Christmas or before stock starts running out.
I hope this post helps someone with a Lego/Minecraft daft boy or girl to buy for make a saving.

Does the 3 for 2 work on reserve to store as there is no option for home delivery on any of these sets?

You just reserve as normal and 3 for 2 comes off when you pay instore

These are fantastic looking sets, I bought the three cheapest sets yesterday so they'll be returned on Wednesday.
These are much better than the micro world sets, I bought those a few months ago for Xmas and now going to see if I can exchange them as they look pathetic beside the new ones.

Argos site has crashed for me been trying ages to reserve to store

I went to the lego store in bluewater - they were selling minecraft sets for between £50 - £100

No point in reserving until Tuesday as they only stay reserved for for one day. I expect the large sets will be out of stock when the offer starts! Hot if you can get them.

Site will not let me reserve either and keeps crashing.

Bah... bought a couple of these yesterday at Smyths Toys towards our sons christmas pressies, as hadn't seen any 3 for 2 deals at the time.

Reckon I can take them back and get a refund (still have receipt), if I manage to get the same sets + another in the Argos 3 for 2 deal?

What absolutely ridiculous pricing on these sets!

Must be a huge royalty to minecraft as these sets are pricey compared to even normal full price Lego

Stupid Question Alert!!!
Would the ones which are marked as 'new' be a better buy ??

Probably. The microsets are very small for the money, wheras these new sets are more like traditional lego, with proper mini figures in them.

As with other 'Themed' or 'Branded' Lego sets (Star Wars, etc), all of these Minecrafts sets are expensive for what they are. Still, the kids will love them though!

Wait for the 342 & miss out? I scooped all 6 via two stores, in Falkirk. They had two in stock, max, but not of all six. I'd suggest they'll be very popular, this year, & folk might struggle to get them, like the 3 micro villages last time round. But hey, take your chance on the deal. Good luck.

Do Argos usually include Lego in the 3 for 2 deals?

Even if they where buy one get one free, they are absolutely extortionate. The entire mincraft cillection conbined (couple hundred pounds? ) contains the equivilent of a small tub of standard Lego, maybe less, stansaed parts too, your oaying for the box

Any idea if you do the fast-track option, where you can pay now, but collect for up to 7 days... if I order and pay now, but don't collect until Wednesday, what do you reckon the chances of them doing them at the 3-for-2 price then would be?! Or would they let me collect them and return them immediately to re-buy?! A bit cheeky possibly!

The Rosses court Argos store in Belfast only had one or two of each set in stock. The assistant said that the Minecraft stock had been flying off the shelves.

Any ideas which are likely to be the most popular with the kids/hardest to get hold of? I'm thinking of getting two for my own kids, and putting the third free one on ebay - just wondering which would be likely to recoup the highest amount and thereby reduce my expenditure on the two sets of my own as much as possible!!

As a fan of Minecraft, and understanding what each of these scenes represents, I'd say the best bet is likely 'The First Night'. It's a poignant moment within the game, and will be instantly recognisable by anybody that's interested. I'd say it's a good option if you're looking to recoup some pennies.:)

Thanks! I wasn't entirely sure what that one was - I'll make sure I get one of those for my son. I also thought the crafting kit looked quite good, with 8-in-1. Any thoughts? Or better with one of the others? My boys are 6 & 10, if that makes a difference!

I thought reservations only lasted 1 day?

Minifigures aside, it just looks like standard blocks and could make the details with other readily available blocks.

at the moment my local stores only have 2 of the new sets in stock

But the blocks are the wrong size. Shouldn't Microsoft produce its own 'MineBrick' sets? They can have that name!

To be honest, I'd give that set a miss. I checked a thorough review here, and it seems that the set is quite fiddly...

The instructions for assembling the scenes are all contained in book 1, … The instructions for assembling the scenes are all contained in book 1, but book 2 is full of building instructions for dozens of small vignettes and objects, which are put together in various ways to create the larger scenes. Consequently, building a scene is an odd mix of flipping back and forth between instructions books, as book 1 tells you it needs a certain sub-assembly, and then provides a page number for that sub-assembly in book 2. Each sub-assembly seems to have a unifying feature of one or two 2×4 bricks overhanging an edge by 2×2, which is used to connect the elements together. Herein lies the first problem. Since my scene was made up of 14 sub-assemblies of terrain, and most are connected to their neighbors by only a single 2×4 brick, the whole is very fragile. There’s no way the completed set could be picked up.

...with much toing and froing between instruction booklets to build a scene from whatever segments the builder chooses. The boys would likely prefer a more straightforward set of instructions.

As for the scenes, after 'The First Night', I'd say 'The Cave' would be the next best looking, followed by 'The Farm'. 'The Mine' is a nice set, but it's £90, and you could get all three of the others (especially with this offer) for less. Whatever you choose, I hope the boys enjoy them.:)

That works if all stock has to be ordered to store. My store seems to have some items right now and others are a 5 day wait.

If you reserve on Tuesday and got to the store to collect on Wednesday, will that give you 3 for 2 or do you have to reserve on Wednesday?
