Was looking for a good sized tent for festival season and came accross this one. About £100 less than the same tent for a 5 person (which is reduced from £290). amazon.co.uk/Van…3MG

According to Vango site this seems to retail at £330 so £106 seems a steal given they are a decent make. The bad reviews are mostly from people who were sent a wrong tent.

Would have been better with a fully sewn in ground sheet, heat though good deal!
Great tent for the price, only negative is that clip in groundsheet rather than sewn in, still a great deal though
Showing as £201.13 to me - so maybe a couple of people got lucky!

Ditto about the groundsheet!
Bought this last year when a similar price, great tent no complaints. For the money it's excellent.
Now £105.89 .....
Just a shame he weather is so crap, heating still on every night so far, what happened to global warming....

Is it a major problem with a clip in groundsheet ? Looking to do a couple of nights camping in the summer with the two kids would this still be a good choice ?
Not a major problem but you'll get Earwigs and other insects finding their way into the living area in the tent, the tents got good waterproofing though with 4000mm HH!
Take that 6 person with a pinch of salt. If you want it comfortable take 2 out of whatever the company says it sleeps.

They don’t call it that any longer. It’s now ‘climate change’

And you have to read the small print, as there's something like "temperatures may go down as well as up, your home is in danger unless you keep flooding sms earthquakes from happening", or some such in there.

Which translates to 'they haven't got a clue what's going on with the weather'.....
Folks would any one be able to recommend a decent tent with sew in ground sheet that can suit 4 , 2x adults and 2x kids, for first time camping trip
Depends how much money you have to spend - I looked at the Coleman black out ones or decathlon do decent ones - all over £300 though for a 6 man tent (if you want to be more roomy).

Worth it if doing regular trips, if it's the odd weekend here and there I concluded that over £300 on a tent was not very justifiable. This one has a two year warranty as well - Coleman's reviews mention poles snapping quite a bit.
What ever you buy it's always worth getting a footprint, or making one out of a tarpaulin! ...

It makes packing up so much easier, when we used to pack ours away we would spend half an hour wiping the underneath of the groundsheet to rid it of worm casts, grass, damp etc to ensure that it didn't contact the sides of the tent when we folded it up & would be in tip top condition for the next time, a footprint does away with this OCD type stuff as all the worm casts etc are on the footprint which you can fold up and pack away in 20 seconds and wash/wipe at your leisure ...

Why not this one?. Vango are an OK brand. The tent is about the right size for 4. You may be concerned about creepy crawlies but the sleeping areas have sewn in groundsheets. You are also going to need to purchase cooking equipment, sleeping bags, possibly a roof box (to cram everything in). You don’t want to spend all your money on a tent and have little left to buy the other stuff to make life comfortable

Lidl/Aldi do ok camping gear. If you are on a budget, look at second hand. Some people are selling their perfectly good tents to buy air ones (Outwell Montana is a good sturdy family tent)

Lots of reviews and helpful advice on UKcampsite.co.uk ( its also a good site to find campsite reviews).

Most important bit of advice I have is camp on a site right next to a beach. Keeps the kids occupied for hours and hours and hours.....whilst you sit there on the beach peacefully slurping a cup of tea enjoying the wonderful views.

2 man tents are perfect as long as you don't bend your knees and sleep on your side

First time trip = 2nd hand tent with very little use, you’ll be surprised how many buy a tent bundle brand new and then don’t like camping!

Loads available on the likes of eBay and Shpock
